Review summary

This ship is recalling showing its age.  Our mattresses were basically a set of box springs.  They covered it with three blankets to try and soften it.  It didn't help. The blankets were as thin and worn out as the pillows, also very hard.  So if you want a comfortable bed, bring your own pillow top and pillows.  Our toilet stopped working mid cruise. Maintenance said the ship was having plumbing problems.  It worked the rest of the cruise about half the time.  The food in Wndjammer was great on the first day, but thereafter the quality went downhill and was almost always the same variety. The main dining room food was cold. Shrimp cocktail was comprised of baby shrimp, the kind you find in a salad. Order multiple so you at least get a taste. The only great thing on the ship was the cruise director, Casey. Very funny guy.

Terrible beds and pillows.

Ship tip

Sprinkles ice cream on deck 11 was great. Dine on level 3 for breakfast; food is better and you can order off the menu.

I said the mattresses are fine, then made a joke, you got offended. I apologize! Hope you have a happy and safe cruise! :-)

Whatever floats your boat.

if new mattresses are an issue, I need to find something to complain about, maybe politics lol

CruizinNurse73    8 years ago

Apparently the NEW mattresses are the problem.

We sail March 6. Already planning to buy a 1 inch memory foam pad and vacuum seal it and hide it in luggage because my husband will think I'm being extreme. There's a whole topic on cruise critic dedicated to the horrible mattresses that's they replaced the old ones with. Please let me know what your experience is for your upcoming cruise.

The mattresses are new they just put them in a couple weeks ago. I've heard they are too hard and I'll be on the freedom in 2 weeks!

no we didn't. guess we could have but we just made due

lindackelley    8 years ago

did you ask for better bedding?

ortkk    8 years ago

we have been on the freedom several times. loved it. soft beds, no problem. but we just went in December and the bed was so bad we didn't sleep well at all. did look like they were letting it run down. maybe because they are moving it? who knows but we did notice a difference. too bad because it is a nice ship.
