Review summary

My only complaint is that the dining room smothers everything with alcohol...and I don't consume alcohol for religious reasons so we couldn't really eat dinner there.

Yup! Never had this issue! Seems interesting that on one cruise they decide to smother all the food with alcohol. I'm imagining mashed potatoes floating in Pinot or green beans doused in jack Daniels. 😃funny images!

I am somewhat confused by your comment, I take what you mean by the dining room smothers in Alcohol, that they smother the food in alcohol! I have cruised on Freedom 8 times, with a 9th coming up in November and have never had an issue with alcohol & food, what ever alcohol they may use in food, cooks out when preparing. RCCL will accommodate any food or allergies issue you may have, all you have to do is tell the main dining room staff and they will be happy to take care of it for you!

If you go into your Profile on the RCCL site, you can put in your dietary needs there.

As I remember it is set up on the 3rd or 4th floor dining room. When you board you can ask any of the ship's crew. 😊

Which floor would that be on? I appreciate all the advice. I was worried I would be limited to a few foods.

If you signed for the cruise directly with RC then call RC and let them know your dietary request. If you signed with travel agent ask them. Just to make sure we go to the dining room before sailing and talk to the person who is sitting outside. They are really good, at least on FOS. Good luck!

i am not sure if you can do it ahead of time but i would call and find out.

lindackelley    9 years ago

When and who do you give your request to?

I can't have chocolate and a lot of the desserts are. But our waiter went back and they made me Creme Brûlée. Very accommodating. I will let them know ahead of time this sailing. 😊

My daughter is allergic to shellfish and one of the servers brought her dish out and our waiter took it and said "I want to be this was prepared away from any shellfish" he came back with another freshly prepared plate and told her he would personally bring her meals to ensure she didn't have any mix up. All it takes is an ask.

I've been on the Freedom 3 times. I have Celiac disease and pre-request a gluten free menu. They have always gone out of their way to accommodate me. Going forward, just ask for your food to not be cooked with any alcohol. The chef will be glad to do that for you. The wait staff will also keep checking with you to make sure it is cooked correctly.

you should tell them and they make every effort to accommodate your needs.

Will they accommodate no Pepper. I am allergic to all kinds.. White Black Cheyenne Bell.

gagrl    9 years ago

Never had that problem. Sailed with them before . If they use alcohol in cooking the alcohol cooks out. None left. You can request before you sail that you have food that has not been cooked with it. They are very accommodating.

Wow. That stinks. Did you ask for a special request at all? if so did they not honor it.
