Great trip to the Caribbean by Dwright

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

Arrived early for embarkation. Excellent trip. We had visited most of the ports on past cruises. It was good to see each again. Puerta Plata had a lot of fun excursions to choose from. The other ports were less so. Entertainment was good and main dining was excellent.

Some hits and some misses by juliedouglass17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

A bit of a disappointment. Not sure RC is taking care of their older ships. Puerto Plata is not worth an excursion.

I didn't know a cruise could be so bad by carternat2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

This was a disappointing experience. I expected crowds because of the holiday, I did not expect the operations of the ship to be so inadequate at dealing with the volume of people. I had to go to guest services to have offers added to my account that according to Royal Caribbean were going to be automatically applied. In addition to that, a reward wasn't added and I'm now being told that my sailing didn't qualify for the reward even though I have confirmation that it was to be added to my on board account. The entire experience has sadly been largely disappointing.

Have been to many cruises. This cruise fell short of our expectations by CruisewithMe01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

Cruise fell short of our expectations, being rather average. Let's delve into the specifics: Room: They were exceptional, Kerry maintained them immaculately. Windjammer: Disappointingly small with limited food variety and frequent unavailability of options. Closed by 6-6:30 pm, with stalls shutting down as early as 5:45 pm, inconveniencing many who resorted to the pizza on 5th-floor. Food Availability: Lack of late-night options like pizzas, burgers, and fries—unlike other cruises. The inconvenience of having pizza only on the 5th floor was notable. It should been on 11th floor. Coffee and Tea Stations: Scarce post-8 pm, with only one station on the 5th floor. Waiting Times: Excessive wait times (20-30 mins) for items like Naan ad curries due to limited stalls, despite a significant Indian guest count. Pineapple Quality: Initially good, but deteriorated after the first two days, turning bitter due to unripeness. Omelet Station: Only one station for 3,000 guests, leading to extensive waits (30-40 mins) and inefficient service. You should get rid of buzer service and make is self served Hot Tubs: Closing at 6-7 pm was disappointing, especially for vacationers who enjoy them late. Should have been open till midnight as seen on other cruises. Arctic Zone: Single station, causing long queues for ice cream where some small kids geeting irritated standing in a line for 20 + mins and closing early at 6:00 pm, an uncommon setup that could have been self-service like other cruises. Food Variety: Limited variety felt like eating McDonald's everyday and occasionally subpar Indian and other options. Main Dining: A positive experience thanks to exceptional service from Harendra and Josephine, exceeding expectations with top-notch quality and care. They deserve a perfect score of 100 out of 10

Signs of rookie crews by baharrubin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

I noticed that RCL has hired a larger proportion of rookie crews. Little mistakes here and there were no big deals. But i witnessed a crew trying to load up coke machine with ice yet the cover was still closed. As a result, ice were all over and one guy fell and hurt his head.

Great crew, excursions have become expensive by jewen4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

Good ports but the costs of both group tours or taxi fares have skyrocketed since pre-Covid. Always confirm your taxi or cab fare in advance. The places we went to had nice beaches and areas at port for shopping. Nelson's Dockyard was disappointing. People I interacted with on the islands were friendly and helpful. Royal Caribbean staff was outstanding.

A Mostly Delightful Caribbean Cruise by jnash1998

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

This cruise was a great first introduction to cruises and the Royal Caribbean team made it a pleasurable experience. I hope to experience more of the luxuries available while cruising, as well as see other cruise ships, but I'm glad the Explorer of the Seas was my first. Anyone looking to see the Caribbean and learn about the lifestyles and cultures on land while relaxing and unwinding at sea, this cruise may be for you!

Too crowded by adiecidue

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

We probably won't cruise with RC for a while. The ship was maxed out so it was crowded everywhere you went. One morning we couldn't even find an open table at the Windjammer. There were lines everywhere and there were kids hanging out in the halls at night. Not a pleasant experience. I have to say the entertainment and the Main dining was great as were the ports of call.

Vacation Of A Lifetime by mizdee1212

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

We would like to thank Junette for working with us in planning our very first transatlantic cruise that involved flying to another country prior to cruising. She advised us and worked with flight change dates so that everything went smoothly. The email reminders were so helpful. We had a wonderful, relaxing cruise and, actually, enjoyed the many days at sea!

Great way to work our way back to the U.S. from a long European cruise by lsrom335

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

Our room steward was fantastic...we had a small problem on the very first night and Agus Winarko made our stay one if the best of our many cruises. Thank you! Our waiter, Wilfredo and assistant waiter, Juan went out of their way to get us any request....glasses of milk every night and even banana splits made special. Thank you for a very delightful and memorable dining experience.
