Review summary

It was an ok cruise. We enjoyed the ship as far as its layout. The food was above my expectations but the activities and entertainment were lacking. Movies on the big screen were geared toward children as were most of the offerings on TV. What few games we attended were skewed toward children participating even though 98% of the participants were adults. It would have been nice to have a break in the 5 consecutive days of ports. A sea day in there would have been wonderful. The islands are so close to each other that it seems feasible.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We arrived an hour earlier than our embarkation time, but were taken in right in. No lines. It was great

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food in both the main dining rooms and buffet were very good. They had a nice array of American offerings on the buffet along with food for their themed nights.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The daily activities were disappointing. There were no line dance classes, trivia gatherings were few and far between and held in a venue that was too small. There would be four or five hours with no "games" and then three all within 15 minutes of each other making it impossible for you to do more than one.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The entertainment was varied. We saw a comedian, juggler, and gymnast. The show by the RC dancers was disappointing. We did not attend some of the other shows and the description of the entertainment did not appeal to us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was very friendly. Everyone spoke and they were constantly striving to please.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The design of the ship makes it easy to learn the layout of the ship quickly. We love the promenade. Unfortunately, too many activities were held in the promenade which at times made trying to get from one end to the other difficult. For example: they held exercise classes on the promenade. Not the place to exercise at all. They had small ensembles playing at night and people tried to dance, but since this is a major thoroughfare, it was a bottleneck.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was large with plenty of storage space. It's great that they utilize spaces like behind mirrors. The only negative we had was our balcony door was super hard to open and close and also very noisy when doing so. Because this is an older ship, the bottom half of the balcony railing is solid metal which was disappointing for some in our group as it blocks a lot of your view when your seated out there.

Ports of call

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
We did a ship sponsored zip line activity which was fun. The port itself is excellent there are so many shops , bars and restaurants. There is a lazy river and giant pool along with live music that would make a great day if you just stayed there.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
This is one of my favorite ports. The shopping is fun and the transit they offer makes seeing the different shopping areas easy and convenient.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

4 out of 5
We did a ship sponsored excursion for St. Kitts and Nevis. The boat ride to Nevis was fun and the island was quaint and interesting. We were disappointed in the St. Kitts portion of the tour.

Roseau, Dominica

4 out of 5
We visited Emerald Falls and Trafalgar Falls. Both were pretty but it is a hike to get to each of them. There were a lot of local vendors at the port for shopping.

St. John's, Antigua

4 out of 5
We ziplined here and it was about a 45 minute ride to get to the facility. There was an abundance of shopping at the port. By the time we got to this island, we felt like all of the islands were all of the islands were beginning to look alike

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
We had a ship sponsored excursion prior to going to the airport. We were to meet in Studio B and then they moved us to the Palace Theater. There were three or four other excursions meeting in there as well. It was very congested and confusing when they finally called us for the excursion.
