Review summary

We really enjoyed this cruise. It was a very good combination of relaxation (two sea days) and adventure. The scenery was beautiful and the cruise service was excellent.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation process is much improved over previous RC cruises. Main complaint was the port transfer, where we wasted 45 minutes at a bathroom/food vendor break, which made us late for our checkin window.,

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Love the dining room; although the portions are somewhat small, you can order multiple options; quality of food and service excellent. Specialty restaurants very expensive. Windjammer (drop-in cafeteria-style meals) had good food but variety was lacking, most items didn't stay warm enough, some items ran out and didn't get restocked quickly enoughh.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Plenty to do.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Performances not as good as previous cruises with RC. Best shows are scheduled too late for many guests.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent service and staff on Royal Caribbean.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Rooms weren't cleaned as well as they should be, and leftover dishes and glasses were not picked up in a timely fashion -- more symptoms of staffing cutbacks.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Comfort and size were good, although the balcony is pretty cramped. Cleanliness left a little to be desired.

Ship tip

I recommend you get a cabin close enough to Deck 11 that you can use the stairs most of the time, since the elevators are often rather busy.

Ports of call

Split, Croatia

5 out of 5
Croatia is beautiful. We did the Krka National Park excursion, which is breathtakingly gorgeous.

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

4 out of 5
Crowded city, lots of traffic and ugly graffiti. We did the hop-on-hop-off bus, which worked well for us. The National Gardens was not crowded and very nice respite from the city traffic. Also stopped by the Areopagus (Mars Hill) near the Acropolis which had beautiful views.

Santorini, Greece

2 out of 5
Yes, it is very pretty (although not as pretty as I was expecting based on pictures I'd seen, but the crowds just ruined it for me. Had an hour wait each way for the cable car up from and down to the pier.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

5 out of 5
Beautiful view from the nearby mountain top. Lovely people. Not too expensive (comparatively). Fascinating old town.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Much better organized than on previous cruises. Only drawback was the scheduling the airport transfer was not easily done (should have been able to do it on the RC app (which is totally worthless)).
