Review summary

Overall we had a wonderful cruise with friends! My husband and I will be back on explore in January for a nine day southern Caribbean, I can’t wait!

Embarkation

2 out of 5
We were the first cruise after the transatlantic, there were several hours of delay before we were able to get on the ship. Jing, our concierge tried her best to keep us all together and happy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining room service was impeccable, the food was average. All the bartenders are very friendly and efficient.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We did not do very many of the activities on the ship, we did hang out at the solarium pool and hot tub‘s, it was nice to not have children running and screaming.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
My husband and I only saw the magician/comedian, he was pretty funny. Our friends that went with us saw the eye show and another production show that they thought was very good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I knew that this cruise might not go perfectly smoothly, being the first Caribbean cruise after a long time in the UK, and some staff turnover. But all staff we encountered did very well.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
She’s older but she’s pretty well-maintained!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We had an absolutely beautiful and roomy owner suite, I can say they need to oil the The built-in TV, it can be turned to the bedroom or the living room, but it makes a lot of noise. The handles on the bathroom sinks both need to be replaced, they are round and the top piece just wants to spin unless you grab the whole thing tight. Also the Ottoman/stool that was in our vanity area had some stains on it.

Ship tip

Make sure to check out the peekaboo bridge, there is also a large hot tub in the spa that anyone can use, the aft public restrooms on deck 11 have panoramic windows, and you can make it to the very front of the ship to have your “king of the world” moment or photos!

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We went on the Koba pyramid climb and cenote swim, it was a lot of fun and very interesting places. If you can’t walk 3 miles and manage a lot of stairs, don’t do this excursion!

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
We did not do a Royal Caribbean excursion at this port. I always spend the day at Tropicante, great food and staff! You reserve chairs by email, and are you have to do is eat and drink there. And if you go walk the hundred feet or so to visit Silver Reef silver shop, David makes some wonderful jewelry!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
I think we were on a shuttle to the airport within 30 minutes of leaving our cabin.
