Review summary

Really not a complainer, truly believe vacation is what you make of it. Unfortunately there was nothing on this trip to help us make it great. Entertainment was severely lacking and the food was average. We've been on multiple RCCL cruises and plan on booking another very soon. Not every swing will be a homerun. One average experience is not gonna keep us from getting back into the batters box.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Coast Guard delay after trans atlantic. Not Royal's fault, still an inconvenience.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Service in MDR was terrific, food was average. No lobster night, no crab cakes, no scallop appetizer. These are things Royal always served. Had the NY strip 3 of the 5 nights.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Had a good time playing mini golf, shooting hoops and watching people on the flow rider.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Entertainment was awful! No music, seriously none, before 8:30 pm on the first night. Aside from a really bad band (Hott Spice) by the pool a couple days, no music before 5:30 any other day. Would rather college football on TV on a Saturday than a 13 hour cricket match. Ice show was at 1:00 and 3:00 pm two of the 5 days. No evening ice show.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
MDR service and one great bartender, other than that, kinda meh.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Love the design, seems crew effort is kinda lacking. Almost seems like they assigned the "B" team to ride it out until dry dock.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Nice balcony cabin, exactly what we expected. Steward did his job, nothing exceptional. One towel animal in 5 nights.

Ship tip

Great design, wait until dry dock before jumping on.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

4 out of 5
Very well organized.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Cozumel is a nice stop.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

2 out of 5
Reminds me of Freeport. If you don't want to buy cheap souvenirs or take an excursion, might as well stay on the ship.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Again, very organized.

Not sure how long your cruise was. But lobster is only served on the 2nd formal night. If your cruise is short than none is served.
