Review summary

Being ripped off as Royal Caribbean sold 1500 tickets at less than 60% of what we paid ruined what was otherwise a wonderful cruise. I was lied to by RC and told prices would be frozen after the final payment date. Once on board, all of us who booked early through an agent, spoke to the many who got the "deal". Take my advice if you can and do not book early through an agent as that is the excuse RC uses to do nothing to correct you being ripped off. It is a circular scam. The dining staff were also rude when we tried to change our dining reservations from 6 PM fixed to "My Time" so we could make the 7 PM show. I had to involve the Captain.

Excellent service and cleanliness, could not be happier.

Ship tip

Book as late as possible through Royal Caribbean directly if you want to avoid paying more for the same cruise and to avoid being ripped off. Use on shore internet cafes to avoid the slow $20/day ship's internet.

Shop around looks like you found out the hard way, and for involving the captain for something so petty your a jerk it's called research before you sale

If you had taken up their top level insurance you could have changed your booking to get new pricing! I was offered it and didn't take it I will next time.... I'm not whinging because it's my own fault!!!

Wait just one minute here. As a travel agency owner, I know that should one agency sale more of one line, like RCCL, they get preferred rates and deeper commissions that they just might pass onto their preferred clients. You really cannot talk about rates to other cruisers on board the ship. Just like the airlines sale seats at different rates, the cruise lines sale cabins at different rates.

Well I got a mini suite 2 adults 2 kids 9 nights for 3500 I am an agent and i booked 12 mnths out its like anything you buy fruit and vegetables you buy one day they go in sale the next get over it and fancy asking people what they paid.

So if the price had gone up after you booked would you have expected to pay more. Prices fluctuate, some you win, some you lose.

How is any different to buying a car or a house etc - you shop around for the best deal for YOU and barter them down if possible or wait for specials. The WORST thing you can do with any "purchase" is discuss prices with other people after the fact. No one "lied", you got what you paid for at the going rate at the time of your "purchase"

Flights are the same way. None of us who fly get the same price. Forget about it!!

I just recently found out that silly me who paid in full at time of booking lost the privilege of getting a discount. Oh well thats my prob for this cruise. However i have booked sydney to honolulu in 2018. Only paid the deposit as yep Ive learned my lesson. Looking forward to a discount later. 😆

Weber...my thoughts exactly. Very strange. That's like asking someone their salary lol.

Imagine that...No prior cruises no upcoming cruises on the OP profile. I see such a pattern in ranters.

I cruise all the time im actually leaving tomorrow morning in harnony of the seas. Royal Caribbean & I find a lower price & they upgraded my room to a suite with a balcony & gave me a ultimate beverage package

That's like calling the Pentagon for a traffic ticket.

You were lied to by your travel agent. It is not the cruiselines responsibility to get you the best price. As in any business model. Too bad you allowed it to ruin your vacation. If you were willing to spend x amount for your trip, only you ruin it by being so worried about price. Next time do your own research. As for involving the captain..really? What a joy!
