Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Maim dining room was great. Food delicious and very well presented. Waiters very professional, friendly and entertaining. We ate most meals in the dining room including breakfast and lunch. One meal each in Pinnacle Grill and Tamarind which were outstanding in food and service. Ordered room service 4 mornings which was delivered hot and on time.

Onboard Activities

Onboard activities were the evening shows and afternoon movies. Attended couple educational programs pertaining to ship itinerary.

Entertainment

Attended 5 stage shows. All were very good. Art and music are the theme of Holland America Line. They have live art auctions, jazz and rock n roll bands and string quartet concerts. Two evenings there was a very funny comedian. Also, on two nights an island steel band performed. They were awesome.

Service and Staff

Service and staff were excellent. Everyone was helpful and friendly. We felt welcome and safe on the Eurodam.

Ship Quality

We have always liked the Holland America Line ships. They have a traditional look. The Eurodam is a nice size, easy to get around on. The ship is older and has some wear and tear, but it is immaculately clean and well-maintained. There are always someone cleaning and polishing. I have learned in my travels that everything does not need to be brand new, just clean and well cared for.

Cabin / Stateroom

Our cabin was very comfortable. A generous size. Beds were very comfortable. Our room stewards were very attentive. Some how they knew when we left our cabin and it would be tidied up upon our arrival. Our cabin was spotless. It could use new carpet, but it was clean. Never any dust or lint to be found. The bathroom was spotless. Towels kept fresh.

Ship tip

Relax and enjoy! Dress up, do specialty dining, have special picture taken. Do excursions, attend events and entertainment provided on the ship. Do as much or as little as you desire.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Did not care for this port. It seemed very unorganized. The traffic was terrible plus it was storming. Perhaps in better weather?

Do to weather our ship had to skip this port. Had an extra sea day.

Did the canal by ferry. Then a bus to Colon to meet back up with ship.

We cruised the canal on a ferry and met the ship in Colon that evening just before sailing.

We had planned to visit to see the town and night lights, but fog and rain came in. We have been there before. A pretty town.

Mostly walked around the shopping area, talking to shop keepers. It was a lovely day to be off the ship. Have been here before.

We stayed on the ship. We are older and did not think we could handle the sun.

Disembarkation

This was really smooth. We purchased ship to airport transporting and had our luggage sent directly home from the ship. A very good experience.
