Review summary
My wife and I have reached the age where we seek cruises featuring a minimum of partying and much greater to individual, personal needs and desires - including solitude. This was our first cruise with Holland-America, referred to often by friends as the "geriatric" cruise line. Well, we may have just entered the "geriatric age" because we both loved it.
The Eurodam is a classy vessel adorned with ample art work and subtle colors. The largely Indonesian and Filipino crew is attentive and caring throughout to the point that we were referred to by name even as we wandered the ship!
We selected a Neptune Suite and enjoyed the services of the exclusive Neptune Lounge, a hideaway amidship that offered ongoing appetizers and beverages.
What we enjoyed the most was the Lincoln Center Stage daily offering: three different performances by an extremely talented quintet.
Food in the main dining room was good (not great) but the Lido Deck buffet offered the best buffet I have ever had at sea (and I have been on over 40 cruises!). Of the up-charge restaurants, Pinnacle Grill was best. Known for its steak and seafood offerings, this was the first time I had trouble finishing an enormous order of Alaskan King Crab legs!
Suffice to say, we happily placed a deposit for a subsequent Holland-American cruise before disembarking as we were so impressed with the line, its clientele, its crew and staff.
