Review summary

I've done a fair amount of cruising and this ship, Eurodam, and this cruise line, Holland America, doesn't make the grade.  The ship has a very noticeable vibrations throughout the entire ship while it is underway and the Captain says they know about it but can't figure it out.  So, for the entire cruise, you can feel a strong vibration throughout the whole ship.  The swimming pool became a wave pool when we were under way.  Secondly, the staff is not well trained or friendly.  All of them, including the Captain, will walk past you on the ship and either not make eye contact and say hello or look at you and NOT say hello.  It's crazy.  They're in the hospitality business.  Plus, many of the staff are constantly on their personal cell phones, having personal conversations and making guests wait while they do their personal business.  It was not a first class experience at all.

I paid extra to get a suite and the room was good sized and very nice.  But, the extra amenities promised (laundry service, dry cleaning, pressing service etc) was something that was included but not provided in a timely manner and without some serious "prodding".

Great size and very comfortable bed. Always clean. Good sized bathroom with separate shower and whirlpool tub.

Ship tip

Don't go on the Eurodam until they retrain their staff and find a fix for the vibration.

I have been on both the Eurodam and the Neui Amsterdam and they both have the vibration problem. I don't know why the captain told you they can't figure it out because it is a result of the Azipod propulsion. if you look out over the stern of the ship when it is in semi rough seas you will notice that the wake makes a zigzag pattern. this is also a result of the azipod propulsion in that when the ship lists from side to side there is more drag on the side that has more surface in the water allowing the propulsion from the other side to push the ship in that direction due to the lack of resistance on the hull of the ship that is higher in the water
