Review summary

The Cruise started out fine but on the 7th day I tested positive for Covid and was quarantined for 5 days in my State Room. I blame RC for this because of them discontinuing their pre-cruise testing for Covid after making my final in October 2020 and potential allowing someone with Covid to board the ship. Instead RC opted to a 4 question health questionnaire which I feel anyone could lie on and most likely dd. RC’s laziness by not testing people prior to boarding put me and others in a dangerous environment and ruined a cruise for me that was booked in 2020 and shifted twice because of Covid. RC should immediately reinstate the pre-cruise Covid testing requirements across their entire fleet so all cruisers can have a safe and enjoyable cruise. A final thought. I do commend RC for their accommodating me while in quarantine and for the future cruise credit. Thank You!

I appreciate everyone’s comments. However, some of you are missing my point. If the Cruise lines would have continued testing prior (which was not that expensive considering the price you pay for the cruise) it could have minimized the chance of someone coming on the ship with it who was feeling sick. (People don’t always tell the truth and RC Health Questioner was pretty much worthless . It is evident in one comment here that others are only thinking of themselves when it comes to reporting symptoms of possible COVID (RE: On the last day we over heard a woman talking about that halfway through the cruise her husband was not feeling well, they did not want to be quarantined so they never mentioned anything to the crew and just started wearing mask. It is people like this that cause the spread and are the problem 😠.) Finally, I am immune compromised and have never been afraid to travel and take necessary precautions so also to ask RC to keep testing as a precaution is not asking that much.

I am very happy that the cruise lines finally discontinued the pre-cruise Covid testing. It was an unnecessary pain and very expensive for me.

We were on this cruise with you, I'm sorry you tested positive. We had heard that there were a few people that tested positive during the cruise, and we noticed the tell-tale signs on a two rooms down the hall from us on deck 2 😪😷🤒 with the sleeping in signs, roomservice menues always on the doors and lots of dishes outside. Can't blame RCCL. All the cruise lines were given the Okay to stop testing from CDC and the HHS on US sailings. On the last day we over heard a woman talking about that halfway through the cruise her husband was not feeling well, they did not want to be quarantined so they never mentioned anything to the crew and just started wearing mask. It is people like this that cause the spread and are the problem 😠.

If you can catch it at Walmart, you can catch it on a cruise. COVID just happens to be the only thing they're testing for right now. The incubation period has been found to be between 2 to 14 days, so who knows when and where you got it. People can test negative, get on a cruise (or go anywhere else for that matter), and not show symptoms for several days.

My wife and I cruised while testing was required and both of came home with Covid. Testing did nothing to prevent us from getting Covid.

You could've gotten Covid on your way there or in one of the ports. For years, people have been getting any manner of illnesses on cruise ships but never blamed them, and honestly, I'm not sure why Covid is any different. Would you have blamed RCCL if you had gotten the flu or bronchitis or RSV? No, because they've never tested for that. If you got Covid, it is what it is. That is not the cruise line's fault.

But it could have been cruise staff. It could have been from any of your ports. It’s unfair to blame their protocols especially since it sounds like you were fairly compensated.

Covid is common everywhere. If you are concerned about Covid, cruising or travel is not a good idea.

Sorry you were ill. But giving one star to somewhere you didn't to is inappropriate.
