Great staff, horrible embarkation due to power failure and lack of organization. Missed getting to Bermuda late the second day as we had to sit in the Bay overnight to avoid the worst of Ian. Still was very rocky and windy on the trio to Bermuda. We have seen worse, but there were many seasick pax. Felt badly for those on their first cruise. Bermuda cruises seem to have a lot of wasted time at sea. Was on one in May and we got there late and left earlier than planned.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Electrical failure in terminal halted boarding midmorning. We waited hours in line. Understandably, this was not the fault of RCCL, but the port and ship was unbelievably disorganized and had no plan for such an event. Pax were moved from one line to another, credential (like testing and TA from Bermuda) were checked several times. Many waited twice in the same line. Poor planning all around.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Did not use the MDR. Prefer to get meals quickly on my schedule. WJ excellent variety and wonderful staff.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Used the gym many times - same bike broken that was broken in March, and we told staff then. Music too loud in gym. Trivia fun, but too crowded - need to find a larger venue. Activities in online Cruise Compass were not always accurate. Printed copy was accurate.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Rockport excellent band - too band their contract is up. Magician outstanding. Shows started late often; on Carnival and Princess they were exact to the minute.
Children's Programs
Did not travel with children.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Room steward Gabus and Arnold, Sergio, Mary in WJ were top notch.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Prefer a smaller ship, so design was good. Very old fixtures, carpet soiled in areas. Bathrooms very clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Rooms are very dated. Old shower curtains, chipped furniture, drawers stuck or falling out. Room steward kept it spotless.
Ship tip
Excellent staff, but ship is old. Adjust expectations.
