A wonderful vacation cruise experience, despite the condition of the outdoor areas of the ship.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We were on the ship before 11 am! (It may have helped that we’re RCCL Diamond Plus members.)
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was consistent. We especially enjoyed the lobster tail in the main dining room one evening. Well prepared hors d’ourves and drinks in the Diamond Lounge provided a nice relaxing way to end each day before the dinner and show.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
The pools and fitness center were terrific. Unfortunately, the walking track and all of the upper deck were often closed “due to high winds” (according to the cruise line), despite the absence of any noticeable wind.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Generally great shows and cruise director
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
As usual, the RCCL staff was friendly and accommodating.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
We like the smaller ships, such as the Enchantment, which are easy to navigate and feel less crowded. The staff did a fantastic job of cleaning all interior public areas. However, the lido deck was routinely a mess throughout the cruise, with debris on the floor in the walkways and lounge seating areas. Also, the poor condition of the outdoor areas of the ship was surprising to us. We’ve sailed with RCCL dozens of times and we’ve never seen a ship that needed refurbishment more. Metal surfaces on the lido deck were badly rusted, some to the point of total failure (holes rusted through the metal surfaces).

Ship tip
We are loyal RCCL cruisers, and this trip hasn’t changed that fact, but individuals considering a cruise on the Enchantment should research its last refurbishment date and scan relevant comments from recent Enchantment cruisers.
We enjoyed touring the Inner Harbor and Historic District on our own (no excursion). The city is probably more special to us than the average person since we were married there (at the historic Belvedere Hotel) decades ago.
We had reserved a catamaran excursion through RCCL, but it was cancelled. Therefore, we wandered the port (where we’ve been before) and then took a ferry to Hamilton, where we had a terrific late lunch on the balcony of a waterfront Irish restaurant.
RCCL’s multi-million dollar renovation is fantastic! We enjoyed the quieter parts of the island, but guests visiting the action- and adventure-filled areas clearly had a great time on Coco Cay.
