Unfortunately had to cancel trip a few days before cruise due to our 94 year old mom being rushed to ER in SA and now in Hospice. Unfortunately travel insurance didn't help and we lost all our money.

Depending which insurance you had, it will usua.ly cover illness for those going on a cruise or a death in the family but not for an illness in family who wasn't going on cruise.

It sounds like it was maybe mom that was not going on cruise anyway and if that was case, few if any travel insurance policies would cover a non traveling family member getting I'll.

For future reference always get insurance that doesn't have a preexisting conditions clause. I always check for that or cancel for any reason. I'm sorry you missed out. I hope your mother is ok.

Sorry about your mom and the issues with the costs. Was the travel insurance through the cruise line or independent? Many times the cruise line insurance does not cover for pre-existing conditions.
