Maybe 20 minutes from port to the ship! Very impressed!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

We ate at chops for our anniversary dinner and it was fabulous! The filet was really tender! Our servers in the main dining room were pretty awesome! They remembered our likes and dislikes and made us feel very special! Windjammer was an even bigger disappointment then we expected.

Windjammer Cafe

I had read all the reviews possible leading up to our cruise so I went in with very low expectations to windjammer. Both of us were still disappointed in the quality and selections. I enjoyed the French fries. Period. My husband loved the fries and had a chicken Caesar salad that was good. But the rest was either bland or just plain gross. And I’m pretty easy to please. I’ve had better food at Golden Corral and even Ryan’s.

Chop's Grille

It was delicious!

My Fair Lady Dining Room

My hubby’s favorite was the escargot which surprised us both! And mine by far was the rack of lamb! But the food and service was just outstanding!

Entertainment

They were pretty good what we saw of them. The only thing we didn’t like was when they moved the karaoke from the spotlight lounge to the bar by the casino. It was so over crowded and you had to go through it to get to the casino or front of ship.

Service and Staff

All the bartenders remembered our names and drinks. As well as the servers and casino workers. Pretty much everyone. Above and beyond what we expected! Our room steward Janairo was so friendly and sweet! He made us towel animals every day! The one for our anniversary was our favorite!

Ship Quality

It was an easy layout. One of the 3 elevators in the forward section was out the entire trip. Which lead to us using the stairs A LOT! That was frustrating! The wait was really bad at certain times. The windows could use a good cleaning. But everything else was very clean and sterile!

Cabin / Stateroom

It was a double portal OV. It was perfect for us! The bathrooms are tight but adequate. Plenty of closet space and little cabinet or drawers. We never heard our neighbors around us. The room temperature was always comfortable. We did however feel the rocking of the ship constantly. I took lots of Dramamine. But it was nice to be rocked to sleep!

Ship tip

Get the drink package! It’s worth it! $10 bud light. Drink 5 a day and it pays for itself! Try EVERYTHING!! And have fun!

Ports of call

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Our favorite port and excursion! We did a beach day at Nacional Beach from shore excursioneers! I highly recommend it!! Unlimited drinks. Massages on the beach and all you can eat lobster shrimp and steaks! Among other things like ceviche and guacamole! Limited people! We had 5 other couples/groups the day we went! And they paid for your taxi coming and going!

Cozumel, Mexico

We went to Chankanaab Park for a zip lining excursion from shore excursioneers. It was just us with 3 guides. It was awesome zip lining above the tree tops!! And over a lagoon! Breathtaking views!! It was extremely scary for me climbing the towers and the jumping from platforms! I’m extremely scared of heights! But I survived and LOVED the actual zipping! Then we had lunch at the the restaurant overlooking the dolphins! Best nachos I ever had!! EVER!! It was included in our park package. Along with snorkeling gear. But we skipped that part sadly. Free charms in the port at almost all the jewelers. Great finds on souvenirs! Don’t be afraid to haggle the prices! And a simple “no” and avoid eye contact when you’re not interested!

Galveston, Texas

We drove in a day early and stayed and parked at Gaido’s Seaside Inn. Nice hotel and they shuttles us to the port for our cruise after a hot breakfast the next day! Only $90 for the room and they let us park our car there for the cruise. Taxi back after cruise was $11 plus tip. Beautiful place!!

We walked right off the ship! We waited until 8:30 and were headed to the theater when they opened the side doors and told us to just go that way to exit. And we were off in 10 minutes! Through customs and headed to a taxi!
