My friend and I take a birthday trip every year for the last 40 years. This was our first cruise. It was perfect because the price was right and everything was equal (nobody had to settle for the smaller bedroom, etc). It is great to have everything paid for in advance. Also we are totally different eaters and we could both get what we wanted and still be in the same place. It was a successful birthday outing!

Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We only ate in the main dining room once. My friend was a vegetarian and the options were not great. Plus, this was our first time setting up a reservation in the My Time section and it didn't turn out to be a great time. So we ate in the Windjammer buffet most of the time, snacked in L'attitude and off time pizza in the Solarium. Pizza was very good. The little sandwiches in L'attitudes were very good. The desserts there were mostly ok but the eclairs were quite good! The buffet worked well for us most of the time because you could pick and choose. We got there one evening when they were just opening up for dinner and that was the best--hot and fresh! Room service continental breakfast was also a great way to start the day.
Onboard Activities

Origami-fun but very basic and quick. We watched some things from afar. They get very crowded and I am not a crowd fan!
Entertainment

Enjoyed Jimmy Hopper very much and would have bought a CD but $25 was just over the top. I would have paid $20, but something about the extra $5 just hit me wrong. I also enjoyed the comedian--prime time and late adult show. He was very good--I just can't remember his name. The entertainment crew did a great job on their shows, too.
Children's Programs
no kids
Service and Staff

Room service got the order wrong a couple of times but fixed it quickly and waitress was sweet. Bartenders were nice and helpful. Room steward was a sweetheart but I think they need to work a little more on our schedule, rather than theirs (I am sure that is not his fault). Also had to go in search of washcloths, etc on occasion. Bar waiters could stand to perk up a bit!
Ship Quality

I think everything was very clean. It is a smaller ship than I am used to so it seemed a bit cramped (buffet and main restaurant in particular). But the public bathrooms are entirely too small and too few AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, they need air vents!! A few unfortunate incidents in the ladies room sent passengers running!
Cabin / Stateroom

Size was perfect. We had plenty of storage space and it was clean. The bathroom could be updated--the fabric shower curtain is old school and makes it feel smaller than it is. And adjusting the showerhead so it didn't flood the room was difficult.
Ship tip
If you are a chocoholic, bring some of your own candy. There isn't a piece of candy on the whole ship. I am used to a General Store that has your usual toothpaste, tylenol, snacks, cheaper souvenirs, etc. I thought my roommate was going to go into withdrawal!
Glad you enjoyed most of it and hopefully you will cruise again. It’s a great way to vacation and you can do as much or as little as you want to. Those that have different tastes in food can almost always find something on board that they like.
