Review summary

Overall the cruise was great. Ignore the ship being old and you’ll have a blast.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very efficient! We boarded the ship around 11:30am (with our 6 and 3 year old) and maybe had to wait 10 minutes max.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was amazing and drinks were great. My only complaint would be there isn’t a lot of choices for dining, it’s either the windjammer cafe or the solarium “snack bar” other than the fancy dining room. And only one is open at a time, so you basically only have one cafe open throughout the day.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We took our 6 and 3 year old and they loved the kids area with a splash pad and pool. There is also rock climbing, a fitness center, spa and adults only side of the ship.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Entertainment was ALWAYS amazing. There is always something going on and something to see.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
My kids (age 6 and 3) LOVED adventure ocean. They kept begging to go back. It’s open pretty much all hours of the day except for a couple hour breaks. They can play, sing songs, do crafts and activities. Definitely made traveling with kids much easier.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff was great and always helpful. Did not have one bad experience as far as customer service goes.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
My expectations were set very low before crushing on this ship because I’ve read bad reviews on old how the ship was. Let me just say YES the ship is old, but still a GREAT ship. If you can look past the old ness then you will have a great time. The ship is clean and well maintained it just has rust and outdated decor.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was great with the big window! We usually book a balcony room but I was concerned with bringing our 3 year old so we did the spacious ocean view and the window was perfect. My kids loved it and made little pallets in the seating in front of the window.

Ship tip

Expect the ship to be old, but know it is still a great ship!

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Always so much to do in Cozumel, we went to playa Mia resort with our 6 year old and 3 year old. It was AWESOME. Definitely recommend for families needing something fun and safe to do with kids. We took a bus from the ship for free.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
We did not stop in Costa Maya due to mechanical issues with the ship and instead went to Progresso (yucatan) which was amazing. Mostly a place to learn the history of the town. We took a bus tour through the city with our kids and we all loved it. I want to say the name of the bus tour was Auto Progresso. You can find them on trip advisor.

Galveston, Texas

3 out of 5
We live in Texas so Galveston is not our favorite port lol the water is not pretty like it is in Mexico!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
I was dreading disembarking with a 6 and 3 year old but it wasn’t bad at all! We did have to wait in a line while exiting the ship to go through customs and luggage but you’re crazy if you don’t expect to wait. Staff was helpful and efficient with the process.
