Review summary

Overall, I had a fabulous experience on Enchantment of the Seas. I had read online that the ship "is small and rusty." But since this was my very first cruise, I had nothing to base these statements on. I was still impressed, despite some of the more negative comments on Facebook and Cruise Critic. The excursion I took in Cozumel was also great. We stayed busy and on-time, which is what I had hoped for. The ferry to Playa del Carmen and the bus to Tulum all went smoothly. Everyone was very professional and the tour guide (Alejandro) was extremely informative.

Embarkation

I dropped off my luggage at the port, then used one of the "Park and Walk" lots. Besides being quite the long walk, everything went smoothly. I arrived around my check-in time and had no lines getting on. I just walked around the ship until the staterooms became available.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I mainly ate in the My Fair Lady dining room. Service and food was amazing. I went to the Windjammer buffet a couple times, and the food was also good.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I did a lot of trivia and Bingo! All went smoothly and the crew members who hosted were entertaining.

Children's Programs

Didn't bring any children onboard.

Service and Staff

Service in My Fair Lady was exceptional. Our sever Elmar was extra friendly and professional. He also remembered all our names, which is impressive. Room steward was also professional. He went to my room at least twice a day and the room and bathroom looked spotless each time. Always a nice surprise to get a towel animal on your bed!

Ship Quality

I read the comments before I boarded. "The ship is small and rusty." Yes, you do see some rust, and yes, you can tell the ship is small when parked next to a gigantic one. But it didn't bother me. This is my first cruise, so we can only go up from here, right?! The boat does show some age, but the crew keep it presentable - the best to their ability.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It's compact, but you're really only in the room to sleep and get ready! The room was clean and comfortable. First thing I did when I arrived was drop the thermostat - and the room stayed nice and cool.

Ship tip

It's OK to order more than one appetizer and/or main course in My Fair Lady dining room!

No excursion - just the place I parked my car to get on the boat.

Cozumel, Mexico

I did the Tulum/5th Avenue Experience. It's a lot to do in 8 hours, but I enjoyed the ruins and visiting Playa del Carmen. If you're looking to relax - do NOT book this excursion.

Disembarkation

Lines were long to get off. (We were told one of the gallyways were damaged due to Tropical Storm Imelda, so this was out of their control.)
