Review summary

Overall for price per person paid, value seemed okay if you don’t do drink package and dining upgrade. I bought early and I did not have to pay for airfare since I was a local to Galveston. The last ship that I sailed was a Norwegian Cruise Line ship and everything was included. After you add on the beverages and food packages the value diminishes and I could have jumped on a plane and flew to Miami for around the same overall price. I was disappointed because I expected more out of a Royal Caribbean ship. The food and entertainment and ship needs an upgrade. I would not take this cruise again.

Embarkation

Excellent arrived early and walked right in! No issues with leaving on time.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Waitstaff great but buffet horrible. In the main dining room there were not enough choices to choose from that were healthy options. In the buffet lines same issue and no place to sit down. It was not a good dining experience at all.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
This was my fifth cruise and I expected more out of a Royal Caribbean ship. I was very disappointed in the level of activities. The casino was small and smoky and there was not much activities to do once the sun went down.

Entertainment

Musicians great!! Did not attend shows but heard they were both good.

Service and Staff

Excellent service overall

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
The ship was a old, very small and in need of a update desperately. I did not mind the ship being small but would have liked to ship to be updated and more plush to the levels of a normal Royal Caribbean ship. I was truly disappointed.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
We ordered a spacious ocean (1m class) view cabin and paid extra money for what I thought was to be a larger state room and floor to ceiling window. The window was larger than the porthole however it definitely was not like the one depicted on the Royal Caribbean website for this class. Stateroom very basic . The nice thing about this cabin was it was on his own little private hall overlooking main atrium midship. There was a wall separating the atrium to help with noise. It helped very little with late night entertainment. . If you are someone who goes to bed early then you definitely do not want to be in this area.

Ship tip

Check the age of the ship and try to get your hands on the daily compass so you can judge for yourself the entertainment before you go on this cruise. I have been on many cruises before and quite frankly had I not brought good friends with me I would’ve been very bored on the ship. I’ve had better experiences on carnival cruise ships.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas Did not visit port

From Houston been there many times.

Cozumel, Mexico

I have been to Cozumel many times. Rcl offered limited options of excursions to choose from. The beach that I wanted to go to was sold out and the beach that I purchased through Royal Caribbean was Just OK.

Disembarkation

I did the self assist and the process was fine!! We got off the ship around 750 and was through customs by 815.
