Review summary

Since this was our first cruise taking a shorter one was a good choice. But, now we are ready for a longer one. Royal Caribbean was an excellent cruise line choice for us.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The embarkation experience was very quick. They were boarding the ship early and it was smooth event.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The Windjammer Buffett was good with a large variety of food to choose from. The main dining room was very elegant, but we ate there only once the formal night. Chops Grill had excellent service and the food was delicious

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the excursion event where we learned about the shopping available at our port. We liked the battle of the sexes event on our 2nd cruise day. The cruise director Bobbie and the activities director were very informative, encouraging and funny when explaining activities and the participants in the events.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the main show the Diva of the Seas did an excellent tribute to Whitney Houston.

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship layout and design were perfect for first time cruisers. The ship is due for some updating, but she was quite enjoyable. The common areas were clean and well-maintained. The only issue was the lack of fully functioning elevators 2 were down the entire cruise.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin steward kept our room very clean. It was much larger than I anticipated. The balcony was nice to sit out on, but there are some areas of repair needed mostly new paint.

Ship tip

Make sure you find the location of your cabin in relation to the elevators.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
We book the History of Mexico Tequila and Chocolate making excursion. It was very informative and we had fun making chocolate and understanding how tequila is made.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Disembarkation was a little confusing as the meeting location was above where we actually got off and as first time cruisers didn't fully understand the reasoning behind it.
