Review summary

I've pretty much covered it already; but I will not cruise again with RCCL. I do not do mega ships; and I feel Celebrity is much better cruise line for me.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
I've been on over 30 cruises. Many with RCCL. This was (by far) the most disappointing cruise experience I've had on RCCL and probably sealed the deal for me to never go on any of their ships again. The food selection and quality was cafeteria level at best. Went to the dining room first night and ordered a "NY Strip steak", they brought me out a slice of meat that looked and tasted like a piece of shoe leather. Server was polite and offered to replace it, but I was not interested. The last two meals I decided to eat in the Windjammer. The selection was very ethnic (Indian food, Mexican food, etc) and left me with very little to want to eat. Everything about this ship, right down to the plastic cups, silverware and linen napkins can be described in one word "OLD". It is clear to me that RCCL has no interest in keeping their weekend ship up-to-date; and for the price I paid for an OS; I could have stayed in any 5-star hotel and had impeccable food and accommodations.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
There were virtually no on-board activities to speak of. ZERO......and I mean ZERO live entertainment at the bars or lounges. Unless you consider a guy playing a very rushed piano in the Centrum for 30 minutes twice a day.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The show dancers were very nice and talented, but the show (which is not their fault) was so "corny"; I felt embarrassed for them to be even performing it. The cruise staff dressed poorly and cheapened any possibility that you may feel like you were cruising. I'm used to jackets and ties or uniform when on a cruise ship. I felt as though; there is no dress code whatsoever.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Dining room service was fine. Room steward was very good. Other ship personnel; all I can say is this. After speaking with several of them one-on-one. Very unhappy group of people who are not happy working for RCCL.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Old carpet, old linens, old mattress, old glasses, old pool towels, old lounge chairs, old elevators, and the ship was literally covered in rust....worn......and again......old! I asked an officer about the rust; he said, the ship was going into dry dock in November; so I guess that meant it will keep rusting until then.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabin was clean. But the bed was extremely uncomfortable. The mattress was flattened out. Just wondering, in 2017 why the television picture quality is all non-HD and most of the channels are for kids or in Spanish.

Ship tip

Don't go. Select another ship (NCL) for a weekend or go to a nice hotel. It will cost the same money and you will not be trapped on a virtual scrap heap.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island) Did not visit port

Been there, done that. Nothing to see again

Nassau, Bahamas

2 out of 5
Nassau is Nassau. Once you've seen it; there's not much more to say. One perfume shop and jewelry store after another with prices and selection the same as you can get in the states.

Uh... just a heads up, RCCL owns Celebrity, so I'd expect more of the same from them. Cheers!
