Review summary

My wife & I just returned from a vacation 4 days.  Our iteneary was

changed due to Matthew Hurricane.  We called the evening before embark.  still not know what ports and asked the lady if we need to cancel & she rudely stated "there be a "100 percent penalty" - Not mentioned that they felt safe or ensure us . anything!  Very bad communication skills.  We wemt based on our research.  They all about the money - tried to sell us everything once onboard $$$$$.  The staff was excellent once onboard. Friendly, genuine, & personalized service! The food was disappointing, menu was outdated , escargot, clam chowder, sirloin steak, etc

extra charge for filet or lobster. The Buffet was crowded, no seats daily, poor choices and ran out off protein if you can believe that! All 3 of them!  Very upsetting

the ship was well designed & stately.  The spa was great & very good service but very pricey& I even been to the best and it was more than that!  Overall I give them 3.5 stars - I could not squeeze the 4th star out!

Spacious and beautiful. Nice bed & great balcony With lounge chairs! On the negotiate side Speakers did not work, the cabin squeaked when we hit bigger waves. Outlets very limited . There was a very noticeable rolling noise from the galley on the deck above ! 3 3/4 stars on room

Sorry for the quick judgement. Too many times here we see "trolls" that complain for the sake of complaining, or to stir people up. They often give negative reviews without even being on the ship, ever. I was quick to judge you based on recent experiences, but now see you were sincere. Keep in mind, especially lately, ships nickel and dime more than ever, and try to do more with less. Also, cruising during hurricane season is always a gamble. Hopefully you try it again and have a better experience.

Thx for the comments - I feel this was a review from the heart

Its not to be to hurt staff of RC.  Again I said in my review they did great job.  The phone representative was bad experience.  That not the whole cruise!  We had better cruises in past but this was a overal good -the staff made the difference. Keep up the good work -make improvements and you be fine!

These were special circumstances - you need to realize that the customer service representatives were most likely inundated with phone calls from customers wanting to know the status of their cruise. The situation was changing constantly and they were trying to keep people informed as best as they could. Maybe they could have done a better job of calming your apprehension, but I am sure they had a full bank of calls behind you waiting.

We did RC last year and loved it. We were booked in Carnival this year because we were taking our teens and heard they were better with that age group but the customer service was awful for us. We ended up getting our money back because of the weather but we did have way better customer service with RC.

RC head and shoulders above carnival in my opinion. It depends on what you are expecting from your cruise. I won't sail carnival again unless it is one hell of a deal.

Thanks for the review! We were suppose to travel on the same cruise (for our 25th Anniv) but chose to cancel d/t Matthew, and I'm glad we did! Nonetheless, we are scheduled for the same cruise in 2 weeks 😕. I, like you, booked with RCCL because I was told it was a step above Carnival, but after all the horrible customer service, and what we felt was a serious lack of concern by RCCL during the hurricane, I began thinking maybe RCCL wasn't the best idea!
