Review summary

The cruise was great all except for the stop in the Bahamas - The first thing I witnessed was a skinny horse in 100 degree heat pulling a carriage full of people in the hot road - in bumper to bumper traffic - it was so hot I thought the horse was going to faint and the driver just kept whipping her...I was quite distressed seeing this - It was the first time I witnessed such cruelty. I will never cruise with any ship again that supports the Bahamas until they ban this cruel industry and switch to human peddled covered carts instead.

Ship tip

I would say please do not cruise with ANY ship that is stopping in the Bahamas and supporting the cruel carriage horse industry.

Very cruel treatment of horses - forced to pull carts in extreme heat on busy streets - I watched the drivers whip the horses and I was traumatized. The island in general was a ghetto. This experience ruined the trip for me - It was a haunting image the rest of the cruise. None of the ships should not stop there until this industry is banned.

Better to live in a bubble.

Smh. Trash an entire cruise because you saw something in port that was totally out of their control. 😞

And switch to human peddled carts? Don't you think the 100 degree temps would effect the humans peddling a carriage full of people as well??!

So the cruise was great but you give it one star??? You should rate the cruise and the Bahamas separately. According to what you posted the Bahamas should have received one star, not the cruise.

This is not fair to all the hard working people on the ship or the cruise line.   Why not also boycott all auto manufacturers that sell cars in that country ???  Its about the same as cruise lines that go to the country.  What about the horse drawn carriages in NYC in summer ?

Why does this ship rate one star for a bad experience in a port beyond the cruise line's control. People fly to the Bahamas too, and did for many years before cruising became popular. Rate the ship please, which you said was great.
