Review summary

This was our first cruise, so it was a learning experience too.  I read many reviews before going on this ship.  I thought the ship was clean and the entire staff was wonderful.  We were unable to stop at Coco Cay because of the poor weather and the cruise director and his staff did everything possible to add more activities to our day.  With that being said, I don't know if cruising is for my family.  The activities did seem more geared towards couples in their 50s and groups of woman going on a cruise together.  I am not sure if the activities are based on who is on the ship or if these are the activities no matter what.  This is a question I would try and answer before booking my next cruise.

You never say children's ages. However I have traveled with children on Carnival and Disney. Yes the mouse was easiest most things for kids to do. I also liked the policy. (Waiter asks if you want something if not napkin is placed logo side down, if yes you get your order). The fare is more upfront less nickel and dime tactic. Also fish extender gift exchange was so much fun.

Don't let the Carnies talk you out of trying RCCL again. Enchantment is a short cruise and an older ship. Go on an Oasis or Freedom class ship and you'll see plenty of entertainment for younger crowds. Having said that, you should try different lines. I think you'll find they are all more similar than different.

my entire family enjoys the Carnival ships. they have many opportunities for all ages. We have found that the different cruise lines, tend to cater to different age groups. royal Caribbean being one for as, you found, the middle to older age group.

i've never sailed on Royal Caribbean but I would think the activities probably vary from ship to ship. maybe try a different larger ship.
