We had a great time. We’ve sailed with Royal Caribbean before on other ships, and really noticed the smaller size of the Empress. But the staff are wonderful, and will do anything within their power to make your cruise memorable.

Quick and easy. Had a friendly gentleman who got us checked in, Antwerp were on the ship in no time.

Main dining room was great. Triandi and Marcie (our wait staff) were friendly and eager to give us whatever we wanted. Marcie remembered our drink preferences after the first night. They were both quick to offer something extra to add to our dinner. Buffet was very good, lots of variety, clean and well stocked. Didn’t try specialty dining.

There aren’t a lot of activities on this ship, but we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves. The pools, climbing wall and fitness centre didn’t interest us.

Cabin 9156, junior suite. Smaller than junior suites on other RC ships but we didn’t spend a lot of time in there. Bathroom is tiny
Did an excursion to the fortress. Our guide was interesting, but his pro-government talk was targeted to the mostly American group. The relationship between Cuba and Canada is quite different.
