Enjoyed the cruise but man there were a lot of walkers and wheel chairs.

Review summary

All in all, glad we went. Don't expect Alaska type ports. We were caught off guard by the high age of the average passenger. This was our first with Princess and did a good job overall, we will cruise with them.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Was pretty quick since we got there early but took hours before our bags showed up.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Generally really good food, but desserts were a bit bland probably trying accommodate the masses. Also oddly kept offering fresh pepper with everything, said it's a US thing, news to me. Buffet always seem to be kept fresh with a nice variety. What is available is a bit confusing because of the definitions of main dining, casual, and specialty restaurants. The Ocean App indicates there a "Specialty" dining charge for Steamers, Planks, and Salty Dog at the Wheelhouse BUT these are actually "Casual" dining restaurants which was included with our Premier package. Only found this out by talking to one of the onboard Customer Service folks that agreed the app does cause confusion.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Nice choice for adults / older adults.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Thought they did a great job and thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment. Note: The Piazza area is entirely way too small for the number of folks that want to hang out there.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Generally everyone was awesome but there were a few cranky folks tending bar at Crooners when the bar was overrun. Because of silly Canadian laws many of the bars had to kept close when in port thus overloading the ones that were open. This is especially bad when the weather stinks and no one wants to go to the outside bars that were open. Canada's feeble attempt to drive passengers off the boat and into town!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was always clean. The design is a bit dated and you know it has been in service for 20+ years.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Mostly what we expected. Sofa sleeper was uncomfortable to sit on because of the sleeper, next time we will book a room with a regular sofa if possible. Shower was a shower tub not a dedicated shower

Ship tip

3 main elevator shafts, don't waste your time with the middle one it has the most but only a few ever seem to be running. Take the stairs or the fore or aft elevators.

I wouldn’t expect Alaska type ports on a East coast cruise. Very different distinct cruises. Glad you enjoyed
