Emerald Princess

14 Night Canada & Colonial America (Ft. Lauderdale To Quebec)

Sail date: June 19, 2024

Ship: Emerald Princess

Traveled as: Couple

Reviewed: 2 months ago

Review summary

Fabulous cruise with excellent service and terrific dinners. The entertainment was great - something for everyone, with the usual excellent Princess orchestra, singers, and dancers. The shows sparkled, particularly Rock Opera. Loved the Brazilian and Argentine musicians! Plenty to do - almost too much!

Embarkation

Long, slow line at Ft. Lauderdale to board.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Excellent dining in the Reserve section! Head Waiter Pablo and Hostess Marcela were warm and friendly. All waiters and assistants were excellent. Special shout out to Ryan, Katherine, Antonella, and Chetan.

Onboard Activities

So much fun going on. Plenty of pools, but they were kind of cold. Golf putting contests, games, and a really gym.

Entertainment

Super musicians all over. Ships orchestra were all pros. Claryne - pianist/singer in the Crooners was wonderful. Luis Ramos Guitarist/singer from Brazil played Bossa Nova and popular music with a Brazilian feel. The Silver Duo, guitarist and female vocalist, played Latin/Bossa Nova in small lounges. A party band played very well, but too loud for the Piazza. A String duo and another pianist rounded out the music. Great stage shows, a couple of comedians, and a couple of headliner vocalists also performed well.

Super crew on the Emerald!

Ship Quality

We love this class of ship. It's getting old and needs some updating but it has the best of Princess: a Vines, a wrap-around promenade deck, and a classic Piazza. Well-maintained!

Cabin / Stateroom

Reserve mini on Dolphin deck. Comfortable, a bit dated but completely functional. No complaints.

Ship tip

The Emerald is 17 years old, but well-maintained. The crew on our cruise was excellent all around. Walkers will love the wrap-around deck on 7, a rarity on newer ships. Get a Reserve class room for an enhanced experience.
