On board it seemed like a dialed back version of cruising compared to pre pandemic days. Because the ship was half full it felt like we were the only ones on board at times. The ports were great and crew was awesome though! Would do it again and it was just what the doctor ordered 😊
Embarkation
4 out of 5
We had group A check in. Check in took 1 minute. Had to wait about 45 more before we boarded.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
I was not impressed with the variety at the buffet or the meals in the MDR. I understand with all the restrictions so it didn't bother me and I certainly didn't go hungry. The Crown Grill was excellent. Room service was always good and arrived quickly.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Not much going on as far as activities but we went to relax so it was perfect for us. We used the putting green and gym and there were no crowds.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We went to the Rock opera show and enjoyed it.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Staff was awesome! Our room steward was great and always had a joke for us.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Loved the Emerald!
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Typical balcony cabin. There is only one desk chair to sit on inside besides the bed. The balcony was roomy enough and offered great views. I was worried the Lido deck cabin would be noisy but it was not and I would definitely book another one.
Ship tip
Check out the aft pool area if you like peace and quite
Just wandered the port area on our own. The people were friendly and we talked with a few. They were happy the cruise ships are returning. The vendors were not too pushy which was nice.
We took the hop on hop off tour. There were so many vendors and they were constantly in your face and would not take no for an answer. It completely ruined the experience for me. I just wanted to get back to the ship and don't remember much of what I saw. It was not clear where to catch the transfer back to the ship and the language barrier did not help.
We were in no hurry because we leave on another cruise the next day, and were heading to a hotel. There were problems in the Port that slowed the process, but not the fault of the cruise line.
