Review summary

We had a great time on this cruise and it’s a great way to visit several cities and countries in one trip.

Embarkation

It went very smoothly and actually checked in early. We chose to go into port after check in - the only issue we had was trying to get back into the terminal with our cruise cards as the doorman did not recognise it and tried to stop us from entering.

The food was great quality! The late dining time was changed from 7:15 to 8pm which was a little too late with teenagers.

Ship tip

Research the ports you are going to visit and plan excursions either with the ship or on your own.

Ports of call

Valletta, Malta

What a stunning place. We paid €1 pp to ride the lift up into the town and wandered around.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

I love Rome - we booked a private driver with the ship. It was great and we hit most of the main sights. Our driver then dropped us off at the airport as our flight was later that day.

Naples, Italy

We took a ship excursion to Pompeii- well worth the trip and highly recommend it. I’m glad we didn’t try and fit other stops into the one day. Our guide Umberto was great.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

We chose a ship excursion- Florence on your own. Information on the bus ride was given and when we arrived we were free to explore on our own. I love Florence and we had a great day.

Barcelona, Spain

Kotor, Montenegro

Very beautiful place but small port especially with multiple ships in port. Take an excursion out of town. We did took a private car (at the port) to a nearby town of Budva and had the best panoramic view on the way back to town.

LA SEYNE-SUR-MER (TOULON), FRANCE

Not much to do in port as we were there on a Sunday. We also had to pay for a shuttle boat to get into port.

Corfu, Greece

We took a ship excursion to a winery- beautiful scenery. Would have liked more time in the town centre.

Messina, Sicily

I didn’t like this port- should have gone to Mt Etna.

Disembarkation

Very easy and straight forward.

I like anytime dining. This gives us more flexibility but still wonderful service. We chose Club Dining for our upcoming trip. Will see how this makes it different.

Glad you enjoyed your family cruise. We love the food in the MDR but we take anytime dining. It works well around excursions and shows.
