The ship is quite beautiful, albeit older and with some AC issues. The French Polynesian islands of Bora Bora and Moorea were the most beautiful ever.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
We were new to Princess and we were led to embark into a hallway with no greeting nor direction as to how/where to proceed
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The bartenders at Crooners (Jimmy and Alan) were wonderful.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Many daily activities were geared toward an elderly crowd (e.g. trivia games 4xday, wooden horse racing). However, the Movies under the Stars and the Halloween Party were wonderful.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The violinists (Sunshine Duo) were outstanding. The band Pinnacle was quite good. The other entertainment was average.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
The bartenders were very friendly. The Cruise Director Alexander was wonderful (best ever)! The other service was average.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship is traditional in design with a lot of wood and stained glass. Quite beautiful. The ship is broken into smaller entertainment and sitting areas, some with a "cabaret" feel. Again, quite nice. However, it takes a while to learn which decks connect the front of the ship to the aft so sometimes you had to retrace your steps and find a different "connecting" deck to move from one end to the other; thus the ship was a bit confusing at first.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
We're sorry to say that the AC was not working properly in our cabin and it got very warm/humid at night. Very uncomfortable. We had to leave our thermostat on the lowest setting from embarkation onwards, yet this was not enough relief. As I was unpacking the first afternoon, I was outright sweating and had to wipe my forehead (and I am not normally a hot person). We immediately informed our steward. We had 4 technician visits throughout our stay but nothing was able to be done. Each time we were told it was working according to their standards. We were told to keep our drapes closed to prevent the sun during the day. Quite disappointing for reserving a balcony room that was to have a beautiful view. Each time we entered to a totally black room that needed the light switched on to see. But, for comfort, we conformed to their suggestions. The last week (after AC tech visit #4) we were offered to change rooms but the new room seemed to have the same issue. We learned of several other passengers in our "wing" of the ship that had the same issue and were moved about, only to be as uncomfortable in the next room. Some passengers were okay with their AC so perhaps it was just an inconsistent system due to the age of the ship. We will be directly and formally informing Princess of our discomfort.
Ship tip
If Balcony, try to reserve more aft (in #500's, 400's). The hallways were cooler than the 600's (but we cannot vouch for inside the actual staterooms)
