Review summary

This is what I call a vacation. Once we got on the ship we just had to decide what things we wanted to do, or just relax in the room. Beds very comfortable. Loved having the balcony, could leave the door open and listen to the ocean and view wildlife and awesome scenery in Alaska. Our trip was unseasonably warm for Alaska but actually beautiful weather. Fun things to do on the ship, the staff was all super nice. Our cabin steward was great and very helpful. Food was great. We didn't get a drink package as we don't drink THAT much so only water or tea/lemonade with lunch and supper and juice and milk with breakfast, regular coffee at all meals but if you want soda or alcohol you would have to pay. We didn't miss it much. We bought a few drinks and a bottle of wine one night and still didn't spend as much as a drink plan would have cost. If you love soda then you may want to purchase a soft drink package as they give you cans. You can bring on water but only one bottle of wine, the rest they charge you for so no point but that didn't really affect us. We saw whales and sea lions off and on the ship, eagles of course. We didn't see any bears, but we didn't really take any excursions to see bears. I wish the stays in the ports were longer, like from dawn to dusk to get to see more. Getting off and on went smoothly. Shows were good, voice of the ocean fun as well as dance your face off, we had some brave passengers participate in that and it was hilarious and great fun to watch. Clubs open with various types of music. The walker black duo actually was very good and they took requests and you could dance. The skywalkers lounge open late and had a DJ and they had singers in the piazza often. The naturalist on board very knowledgeable and experienced in all things about Alaska Wildlife. I liked the pup lunch for a quit bit at lunch a couple of days and something different. Just great fun all around. Made a few new friends.

took fishing and dining on a small boat. Ate the fish we caught at a campfire, it was fun and different. Everyone was nice. Blueberry rhubarb cobbler was excellent.

did the whale watching which was fun. Went to the Red Dog Saloon after for a beer and a bite and they had a great singer there who was not afraid to say it like it is, and definitely put your cell phone away, ha ha!

Skagway, Alaska

did the train ride and glass blowing. Was great fun. If you go outside of the main town, ie, to glass blowing, the shuttle in skagway only runs every half hour and it is 5$ for the day just FYI. The websites said every 10 minutes, but that is only intown and to dock.

Victoria, British Columbia

we didn't have an excursion planned, walked of boat and only had 4 hours so we got on a bicicyle drawn cart tour which was fun, they stopped if you wanted to stop and get off and take pictures, etc. Had time for a beer after at a bar near the docks as well. Actually beautiful weather there all year round sounds like.

Loved this itinerary when we did it on the Sapphire in 2011. Alaska is one of the greatest places we've visited and we love Princess.
