Review summary

Awesome, Magical, So worth it, You must try at least once! Very impressed not only with Disney Cruise Lines but with RCI. Always checking in and making sure I had what I needed before the cruise. If you are looking for an alternative to the Disney parks, this is a great one. The characters are always around and shows and you get to see wonderful ports and enjoy the Caribbean. DO IT, You will not regret it! Until We Meet Again!!!

Embarkation

WOW! is the only word that comes to mind. So different from other cruise lines. So efficient and friendly all at the same time. No one acted exhausted or put out. It was amazing.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I was not cruising for the food but it was so hard not to want to eat. The selection and quality of the food was just right. The right food for the kids and adults.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Rainforest Room at the Spa was perfect for the early morning pick up and an evening wind down. Fathoms was entertaining every night. There is a lot to enjoy so I didn't get to do everything. So I guess I will need to go back ;)

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The performers are wonder and so talented. Magicians and Comedians and Ventriloquist oh my! the stage show are Broadway quality and the singing!!! We just loved it!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent! These individuals are constantly moving with purpose. The servers are so very accommodating and do not judge when you ask for an extra entrée or dessert :) the room stewards are on it! They are so busy but they always found time to talk to each guest and ask about their day.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very impressed at how everything look and smelled so clean. I am a little germaphobe and well I did not feel nervous at all! You see staff cleaning all the time. Especially in the common areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very comfortable for me and my husband. I am a plus sized woman (5'4'' 280lb) and it was just perfect. I had heard that the bathrooms were tight but it wasn't terrible. The room was perfect. My husband and I always say, next time we don't need a verandah, but I just don't see how I can not cruise with one :) lol Overall it was a wonderful cabin. Oh and also close to the laundry.

Ship tip

It is a smaller boat, so you can feel the movement in the sea if its choppy. I have a tendency to have motion sickness, but I didn't so I guess it depends on how you feel. I was so distracted with the Disney "Magic" that it did not bother me. Also get the unlimited photo package and have them take as many pictures that you want. And last if you are not a kid person, no problem, then use the adult areas, but I have to say, the people on my cruise were so nice, not just the staff but the other cruisers. I was impressed by some well behaved kids and teens. But again kids are kids and can get cranky, so just remember that. other than that it was AMAZING and worth my dent in my pocket book. It will be very hard for me to cruise with any other cruise line but we will see :)

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
Galveston is a great little town to enjoy downtown shops and walk along the beach.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We didn't do any excursions but we enjoyed walking around the port and shopping. I picked up affordable souvenirs and even bought some cream that will slow down the look of aging, hmmm lol It was so fun!

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
Again no excursions as my husband was not feeling so well on this day. (his back was acting up and he needed to rest) so I explored the port, as I had never been to Costa Maya. This was a surprise, they have several pools, beach areas, shops and restaurants AT THE PORT! the areas is so great! they even had a Aviary! so if you are cruising and still would like to have money when you get home, Costa Maya is the place to be. It is also very clean. Oh yes also I should mention, women - you may walk into a bathroom and find a man cleaning. Its ok, there are still doors and lock and he is constantly cleaning as each person leaves he goes in and cleans. the clean smell was so nice.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Debarkation could have been better. I think it would have helped to have staff members helping organize the where people were going. There was a huge traffic jam in the main (3rd) floor and no one seemed to help that. This was my only observation that stands out because we are used the Disney efficiency, so this was interesting. I was definitely surrounded by people that were happy then very angry. If Disney can fix this, I know they will get even more people to return. I left my feedback with Disney Cruise Lines , so crossing my fingers that they are fix that.

Great review and tip. I was on a Royal Caribbean in Costa Maya the same day you and the Magic were. Busy port with so many ships but your review was accurate. Thanksgiving is.
