Review summary

Overall good cruise, some few issues with Customer Service Staff put a bad taste. Then cancelled excursion that we were looking forward to and no comparable available option. We love the relaxation aspect of the cruise and enjoyed the food options.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Great- smooth process, got on quickly

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was good in MDR, most portions adequate, sometimes food was warm vs hot, but good overall.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Pools nice and well kept. Thoroughly enjoyed the Sanctuary and the staff there was excellent. Had fun with photographers throughout the ship. Casino was always full, a little to smoky for us.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We’ve been on several Princess ships and have enjoyed the entertainment. This cruise had a great DJ, the pianist Liam Stewart was really good, the illusionist was excellent. The comedian was not funny at all, rather boring. The band “The Drop” tried, but were not to our liking. The Mariachi band was great, lots of fun. The husband & wife duo were also very enjoyable. Also the “Rock Opera” & “Spotlight Bar” princess shows are great but we had seen them before so didn’t go on this ship.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Majority of staff was outstanding. Vander in the Sanctuary treated us extremely well. Our room steward Romeo was exceptional. Dave the assistant cruise director was always positive and upbeat. Rickey in restaurant was attentive. Morris a deck attendant and baggage handler did his best every time we encountered him. So many other people gave great service. Yet when we had to encounter the customer service desk we had less than expected service, first encounter with CSR we were blown off. On a separate time inquiring about folio with another CSR we were given misinformation which resulted in 2 more trips to Customer service. After this we spoke with CSR Manager Mauro and shared our concerns regarding overall experience, he listened, and offered plausible solution. Our big issue “entire ship great until you have to see customer service, which should be the best of the best”. We still like Princess but were not impressed with this team on Discovery Princess.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Al.ways clean and beautifully maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was adequate for our needs and our steward Romeo kept it well for us.

Ship tip

Definitely go to the Sanctuary, great to relax. Be free to change your plans, you are on vacation.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

2 out of 5

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

3 out of 5
Cabo is beautiful, the marina is not a true representation as there are many aggressive vendors, with more time recommend San Jose del Cabo

Mazatlan, Mexico

3 out of 5
You can walk the blue line to self tour or go to Stone Island, be aware our excursion was cancelled so have a backup plan.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

3 out of 5
If you do a tequila factory tour that includes the church, be prepared to be taken to a jewelry store where they will try to sell, sell sell. Some of the tours are not as anticipated.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very easy

Glad you mostly had fun. What were you asking about at Customer Service? Even when they have to tell a guest, “No”, they should still be polite.

Sorry to hear customer service was so bad. I’ve had pretty good luck there but I guess it depends on which rep you get. Thank you so much for sharing.
