Review summary

It was a very good cruise. The scenery is absolutely stunning. The ship is very new and in great condition. The service was overall very good. The medallion is excellent for purchases and such. The medallion app is absolute trash. I was rarely able to get it to do anything functional at all. A couple times (out of dozens of tries) I was able to use it to order drinks. It’s excellent when it works but that is definitely less than 5% of the time. Wi-Fi on board is sufficient to text but that’s about it. Don’t even bother trying to send a photo or use the web. I don’t want to dwell on the negative though. We had an excellent time and can’t wait for our next cruise.

Embarkation

I am not sure why they gave us an assigned time or a color. It seems everyone just shows up when they want. The line to check Covid test results was very long. Once through that bottleneck, it was a quick process.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was very good. Everything seemed fresh and there were many options. We did 2 specialty dinings that were both really good. We did a few dinners in the buffet and a few in the main dining room. No complaints. Giggi’s Pizza is excellent

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We did several trivia’s and game shows. They were all fun. The one negative experience we had was with bingo. They use the tablets that allow you to play a bunch of cards at once. The same lady won all four games in the first bingo. It has to be rigged or a glitch. The mathematical odds of that are staggering. That was the end of our gambling on that ship.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The stage shows were very good. I didn’t like all of the song choices but hey were very talented. The comedian was pretty good. They also had a pianist/ comedian who is clearly talented but I wasn’t thrilled with him. His songs were ok but his jokes weren’t funny. They had violinists in the piazza regularly that were excellent.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our room steward was exceptional. The wait staff were pretty good. At busy times in the buffet it was hard to get a soda (or even water). Our waitress in the Crown Grill was awesome.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is brand new so it was in great shape. Overall I like the design of the Royal class ships but I do miss a true wrap around promenade.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The balcony cabin we had was very good. Like all cruise ship cabins, the shower is tiny. There was plenty of storage space and the bed was very comfortable. I see people complain about the size of the balcony. It’s certainly not roomy but plenty of space for two people out there.
