Review summary

All together very good experience. Would recommend this ship and itinerary.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The Japanese are really great at organization .... the embarkation process was quick, problem free and stressless

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Expected more. The dining room food has become very “ Carnivalesque”. Cherries jubilee only appeared once on a 13 night sailing ... and the portion was super small ... 4 cherries. Buffet food seemed better than dining room food - which is a shame.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Japanese lessons, origami lessons, laughing yoga class .... a lot of fun activities

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Silk Road - excellent Other on stage productions/ performances average to good. The vocalists (with exception of the soprano) were pretty hard to listen too ... the dance troupe and the dance choreography was excellent.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
Teenage program was as good as could be expected - it’s hard to put together to satisfy a bunch of picky teenagers

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
A well run ship with a seemingly happy crew. We received excellent 5 star service from all ships service staff

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Nice looking elegant ship, inside and out. Well maintained for it’s age.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We traveled as a family of 4 with 2 teens. The mini-suite offered a good compromise of space versus cost. There was ample storage for 4 people with 14 days worth of clothing ...

Ship tip

Crooners Bar is great for pre and after dinner drinks and also for people watching.

Small quaint fishing town on island of Hokkaido. Not much to do other than browse the red brick warehouse shops and ride the cable car to the top if the hill. There’s also a good fish market to browse where you can squid fish
