Review summary

This was our first cruise and I was worried that being in our late thirties there wouldn't be much to do but it caters for most people.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Very busy when we arrived (11.45am) so we took a ticket and went off to see a bit of Yokohama and returned at 2.30 to a very easy experience

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was very bland - probably deliberate for the average age on the cruise (70s)

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Art auctions were entertaining, wine tasting was good, champagne pouring and balloon drop were good.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Stage shows were great. Live music in all bars was pleasant.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Very friendly, efficient staff and left us alone (our preference)

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Clean and maintained

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Bigger than expected, lovely having a big window, everything was functional.

Ship tip

Our cruise only had two sea days out of eight in total - very tiring so opt for a cruise with a chance to rest a bit. Diamond princess is definitely a fine (sunny) weather ship.

GAMAGORI, JAPAN

5 out of 5

Busan (Pusan), South Korea

5 out of 5
Tea ceremony was very good

YOKKAICHI, JAPAN

2 out of 5
Immigration took a long time and our excursion was cut short with no apology from the cruise

Disembarkation

Very easy
