Review summary

Overall our cruise experience was nothing less than spectacular. It's been over 40 years since I left Japan and coming back home was nice. Would have love to have done more and unfortunately our cruise was cut short one day due to the typhoon but it provided us with another day in Yokohama and we made the best of it. We are set to head back to the southern tip of Japan via Taiwan in Feb 2019. Hopefully a few excursions could be added with the features i mentioned earlier. Going back to Okinawa where i was born is going to be exciting.

Embarkation

Great and very organized

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
One can never go wrong with Princess specialty restaurants and buffets...great choice of foods to accommodate the Japanese and American travelers

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Thank goodness for Zumba classes after eating so much. Hot tubs were always great after long days on-shore

Entertainment

3 out of 5
I was very disappointed that on a seven day cruise that only one night was dedicated to the Japanese entertainment. The variety shows were just okay in my opinion. No comedian and the Princess dancers and singers were ok. We have seen the same themed shows on other Princess Cruises. Just very disappointed with only one night of Japanese entertainment. It would have been nice to see Geisha or Kabuki dances and etc.

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

In some areas the ship is showing wear and tear with rush and etc.

Cabin / Stateroom

Absolutely amazing..only issue we had was there was no hot water on our last night or early morning before departure. Toilet would not flush. They actually came in twice to work on it. finally worked out for us

Ship tip

Princess is always a great cruise line. We were a little disappointed there was no International Cafe, but we survived. In 2016 we stepped away from Princess and went the Royal Caribbean route. Royal was ok, much more to offer but overall we are a Princess family and that's where we will stay for now on, especially now that we have reached Platinum status.

Ports of call

Yokohama (Tokyo), Japan

4 out of 5
Great experience before departure in Yokohama. Had a chance to walk to Chinatown as well as see a professional baseball game. WONDERFUL.

Kushiro, Japan Did not visit port

Typhoon delayed our trip and this was one of the ports that were deleted.

Korsakov, Russia Did not visit port

Had no appeal to visit Russia

Otaru (Sapporo), Japan

4 out of 5
Sapparo was great, especially the ski jump. Would love to have seen any attraction having to deal with Kabuki, Shinto temples, Geisha and/or sumo. These are very attractive destinations in Japan

Hakodate, Japan

4 out of 5
Night tram was an amazing view. Would love to have seen any attraction having to deal with Kabuki, Shinto temples, Geisha and/or sumo. These are very attractive destinations in Japan
