Review summary

Cruise was advertised as transatlantic dancing cruise. Serenity floor reduced approx 80% during yard period from large dancing floor. Signed up for beginner's classes but stopped after 3rd session due to overcrowding. New configuration so restricted that most cruise dancers are abandoning Serenity for Cunard ships with large ballroom dance floors. Crystal is losing dedicated dancing crowd due to new layout. Do not sell this cruise as a dancing cruise. Some are considering class action suit.

This was my first ocean cruise.. My colleague is a 20+ Crystal cruiser and I took this cruise on her recommendation that ballroom dancing was the highlight. Wanting to learn dancing, I signed up for the cruise. Unfortunately, the Serenity had just come out of a month long yard period and they reduced the Palm Court dance floor to perhaps 75% of its original size. I signed up for all the beginner dance classes, but stopped after the 3rd try. What I call a "cattle call", some 50+ students participated on a round dance floor reduced to some 20' in diameter. My demise was when I stepped on 3 other men during the first 2" of the waltzing lesson. Some 60 people were elbow to elbow on that small dance floor. My one reason for Serenity was the opportunity to learn to dance. I FAILED miserably due to the changed venue. I will not go back, and you should not advertise that ballroom dancing is available. IT'S NOT!!!

Ship tip

If one is going for the dancing cruise, forget it. It's false advertising. Oner cannot learn to dance on a round floor 20 ft in diameter and 60 beginners trying to learn to dance.
