Southern Caribbean by CharlesK4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship is new, so everything is in excellent condition. However, the ship seemed to rock excessively for the minimal seas we experienced. (the higest seas were 4 to 7 feet with 20 knot winds)

Less than expected by DebraG7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We were less than satisfied with the layout of the Princess ship. We have sailed over 10 cruises on Royal Caribbean, Princess, NCL, and once on Carnival. The Crown Princess ship layout was confusing and did not disburse activities throughout the ship. If your cabin was located towards the front of the ship, you had to walk through a maze of corriders or through the very crowded pool areas (with beams located in high traffic areas) to get to the far back of the ship for meals. It was obvious that the ship was designed to increase # of cabins and decrease the 'open spaces' for activites. Even the buffet areas were small and cramped, allowing for 'single file' traffic patterns. The Movies Under the Stars was very disappointing. Movies ran during the day and night, but the sound system was not adequate for the noise of the engine/exhaust and people around the pool area directly below the screen. If you are going to watch a movie - do so in your room; or on a ship's 'enclosed' movie theater. Unlike prior Princess cruises, the staff on this cruise (save our traditional dining staff) was not personal or servicing. You could be walking through a door with your hands full of a food tray for your familly and if a Princess staff member (food service or other) was walking through the door at the same time, they would not assist, stand aside to let you pass, etc. I was literally 'bumped' aside of the doorways by food service staff going in and out the cramped doorways on this ship. Never did a staff member offer to open the door or let my disabled mother walk through the doorway before them. I don't know why the attitude of the staff was so different on this cruise. Perhaps they were suffering from 'burn out' since this was a Holiday cruise. I can say that our dinning staff (late seating) were up at 5:00 am the next morning working the breakfast buffets. Perhaps Princess has cut their staffing cost too close which has affected quality of service. The actual cabin was excellent with improved bedding. However, the replacement of the TVs with flat panel TVs made it difficult to view since they were partially blocked by the cabinet railing. There was also a Code Red regarding an illness on the ship that was never formally announced. I asked our cabin steward to vacuum our room and he replied that he was not allowed due to possible cross contamination under a Code Red. I was pleased to see that during the Code Red, the staff was required to serve at the Buffects rather than passengers hovering over the food and touching the serving utencils. They ensured that everyone used sanitzer when entering a 'food station' by requiing a staff member to personally apply the sanitizer to the guest's hands. No one in my family group of 10 became sick on this cruise, thanks to the extra precautions that Princess used during the Code Red incident.

A Must Repeat Cruise by LillianM

I prefer the large ships. There are many activities and the diversity of people works for me. The next time I cruise I will get a private room.

Off kilter cruise by ZeevF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was my 20th cruise and 6th on Princess. Maybe it was because the ship was relatively new or had over 3000 passengers but the food and service were not up to par. Not having a set fee for unlimited internet usage was annoying. The mini suite, the room steward and the specialty restaurants were great.

I found it the same as your other ships except in the space between here and there. It is the same as the Golden, & Grand Etc. Joe's jewelry should not be reccommended by Freddie, they tried to pull a switch on me on a Ruby ring purchase. His name is Henry

Spectacular Southern Carribean! by KimM10

The ship was beautifully decorated-understated elegance-not tacky bright colors and glitzy decor. The italian theme was used effectively throughout the ship.

Fabulous Thanksgiving cruise! by KarinL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship is absolutely beautiful and wonderfully layed out. Even though there were 3000 passengers on board. The crew couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. The Piazza, Wine and Sushi Bar were a real treat. We felt like we were in Italy!

Crown Princess disappoints the Princesse by SueseaM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Where is the media when you need them? The Norovirus seemed to affect not only the passengers but staff, thereby making the few staff working tired, disgruntled, and sometimes just plain rude. My stateroom was nice, the activity directors were great.

"Rock 'n Roll Cruise" by LindaL14

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We just returned from a fabulous cruise onboard the Crown Princess. This is the newest ship from the Princess Fleet and it is Beautiful. The grand atrium is truly spectacular with its multi leveled ornate staircases and beautiful decor. If you like to swim - there are several pools of varying sizes situated all over the ship. The entertainment was over all excellent - from the large scale shows in the Princess Theatre to the more intimate bands, musicians located in the several smaller lounges. This cruise started off in New York and had 3 full days at sea and the cruise had plenty to do to occupy our time. Unfortunately - as we departed New York, a large storm frony was coming across the Eastern states - causing extremely rough seas. Thankfully no one in our party was bothered by the rocking and rolling of this huge ship. The food was very good with a bountiful selection of fresh fruit - especially the pineapple!! We were able to enjoy the Movies under the stars - but I am undecided if I prefer the covered pool (the Star Princess has one), or the Movies under the STARS. The ports of call were beautiful and we only encountered lovely people in all of the ports (St. Thomas, Dominica, Antigua, St. Kitts, and San Juan). As this was a repositioning cruise, we had 3 days at sea, and in the future I think 2 days at sea would be plenty. Overall this was a wonderful cruise and We totally enjoyed the experience.

the crusie was good. by KennethC3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I am 50. I expect top rated entertainment. The comic was good but not for (3) nights. There was Eddie Holman who perform one night only. I believe you must mix-up the entertainment. The Staff Gong night just fair. Broadway musical would have been my choice. The Motown review was very good. The halloween affair was execellent. Bingo.. execellent... The food section super..The personnel not so friendly.. The gambling staff execellent.. The cruise and Activities director staff execellent. The restrooms in the cabinet stink and were not properly managed. The restrooms smell like and out-house. I was very disappointed. The elevators were not operational and we had to walk up 6-8 flights of steps or down everyday. In communication with the front desk was the personnel could not resolve the elevator issues at sea.

The Best Cruise Ever!!!! by PatriciaM22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean

The Crown Princess was the most well orgnized ship we have ever travled on. This was our 6th cruise and by far the best. After this trip there's a realy good chance we'll never vacation with another cruise line. The professionalism of the staff was beyond our greatest expectations. The food was of the highest quality the same as you would receive in a great restaurant or hotel. We had an inside room and it was perfectly fine. Pleanty of room and a very large closet. Can't wait to go again!! Maybe Alaska..I sure hope so.

Amazing Cruise Trip by NycB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We got marry on the the day of embarkment in NYC. The ship is one of the biggest vessel to ship into NYC. The decor and food that the ship offers were amazing. The quality of the food that Princess serves was excellent. We especially like the anytime dining option where you have the flexibility of where and when to dine. The onboard daily itinerary kept us busy during the days at sea. We had the options to join the crews onboard to learn how to do ballroom dancing, wine tasting or learn a lesson or two on computer skills. On the con side, the cocktails drink was not very good. We had much better drinks in other cruise ship. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend anyone to ship with Crown Princess in the future.
