Review summary

Overall the cruise was pleasant, but not something we care to experience again. The ship was crowded and the only quiet place was our personal balcony, which we did enjoy. The disembarkation experience was completely unacceptable and inexcusable.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Embarkation in San Francisco was chaotic and miserable. The rain didn't help, but it was more than that. We understood the porters would be there to help when our car stopped at the curb. First of all, we were waved to the other side of the road. When we finally managed to get our 2 large bags, 2 small bags and walker, porters were no intererested in helping.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Top-line food and drinks throughout. The buffet was typically crowded, but if you really want to miss the crowds, eat at off hours.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Pretty much all of the service staff were outstanding and helpful.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Not enough common areas to enjoy the view

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
My personal preference would be for a firmer mattress, but if you like soft, these are wonderful.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
This is the experience that ruined the entire cruise. My husband and I both came down with Covid 4 days before disembarkation, so were quarantined the last few days. We were told there would be a special process for the quarantined passengers and that we would disembark first. We were told we would have special luggage tags--then we were told we would not have special luggage tags, but that our bags would be there when we got off. After being prepared to disembark at 6:45 a.m., we were finally escorted off at about 7:45 a.m. Entering the SF baggage hall, I was told I had disembarked too early and our bags would be among the last to be unloaded. All of us were asked to wait back against the wall. Eventually, someone realized we were all Covid positive and we were escorted OUTSIDE, into the alleyway between the warehouse and the ship. No chairs. No water. No information. Longer story, shortened, we eventually got our bags at about 9:30. Totally unacceptable logistics.

Disembarkation in SF is a mess frequently especially if two cruise ships arrive about the same time. Problem is mostly with US customs not supplying enough officers early enough and with the cruise ship terminal management by SF city.

You enjoyed the cruise, but you let a bad situation on the last day ruin the entire cruise? First of all most issues you experienced were from port workers which are not affiliated with the cruise line. Sorry you contracted the rona, but it happens, and it's here to stay, and you shouldn't blame the cruise line for how the cruise line handled it, cause it's a CDC policy thing.
