Crown Princess

10 Night Southern Caribbean Voyager (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip)

Sail date: January 06, 2020

Ship: Crown Princess

Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Reviewed: 4 years ago

Review summary

We purchased a 10 day cruise - six islands and four sea days but we ended up only stopping at three islands and being stuck on the ship for seven sea days - not the cruise we bought. This ship has constant motion unlike any other ship I have been on - even staff noted this ship has a lot more constant movement than other Princess ships. Woken up at 2:30 am by staff crashing away on drums below - given wrong info by cruise staff leading to our embarrassment - overall lousy cruise - wont sail on Princess ever again

Ship tip

choose a ship with better stabilizers - the Crown Princess is constantly moving and rocking

Choosing a cruise based on a desire to visit friends at a particular port is never a wise idea. Ports can be (and often are) cancelled for a number of reasons. If visiting a particular location is of particular importance, a land based vacation is a better choice. Also, I doubt you were all left just twiddling your thumbs with no activities on those extra sea days. I was on a Princess cruise a couple years ago where we had to cancel an evening port stop due to weather, and the cruise director's staff immediately put together a lineup of extra activities for us. Sounds like you are just very hard to please. That's on you, not the cruise line. I think a 35% future cruise credit is very generous.

Was on the Crown in November and never a problem, make lemonade or stay home!

We've been on the Crown twice and did not experience that much roll in rough weather it does have stablisers also had a mini suite which was nice, but when cruising Princess are responsible for the ship not the weather.

Sounds like cruising isn’t for you. Nothing is ever perfect or guaranteed on a cruise. Any ship will have movement when seas are rough and any ship can have mechanical issues. Other reviews of the same sailing date rated it 4-5 stars and enjoyed themselves in spite of some issues. I guess it has to do with attitude.

Ports are not guaranteed, for many reasons they might be missed. Weather is on of the big reasons or if there is a medical emergency or mechanical problems. Sorry for your disappointment.

Interesting review.

Ports are never guaranteed on any cruise. Weather and other factors play into stops. They offered you a discount for a future cruise, not sure what else you wanted them to do.
