Review summary

Overall we enjoyed this cruise. We have done roughly about a 100 cruises over the years on 12 different cruise lines so we can make an educated assessment. The food and entertainment were a little disappointing but we still had a great time. The Medallion system was GREAT. We would do this cruise again but with lower expectations.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very quick and smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Never went hungry but it was not up to what we normally expect in Cruise ship food. It appeared Princess has cut a few corners on their menu. In ten days, we had lamb ONCE. Escargot ONCE. Eggs Benedict ONCE. The Deserts were nothing special. It was all "Golden Corral" quality.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The usual problems existed with people reserving the choice pool chairs with books and shoes for all day. The bad part was because the rules were not enforced by the pool attendants.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Some of the WORST dance shows we have ever seen on a cruise ship. It looked like a bunch of high school kids. They had a singer that sang Opera. Ok if you are an Opera fan, The band was very good and they had a couple of good comedians. Otherwise.....

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
GREAT service. Could not have asked for more.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The Crown Princess is showing her age. A little rust here and there and some of the woodwork needs some attention, but overall she is clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The beds were very comfortable. The cabin steward kept the room clean. We were disappointed as to how NARROW the cabin was. It left you feeling a little cramped. Next time we will just save a little money and get a regular balcony cabin. It would be about the same.

Ship tip

The MEDALLION system is wonderful. Educate yourself on it before your cruise. The coffee in the International cafe on deck 5 is very good.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
This is a great port to embark from. Lots of hotels and restaurants and cab fares are very reasonable.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Nice snorkeling right off the beach.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Went zip lining here. Had a great time.

Bridgetown, Barbados

You dock at an Industrial type port and take a shuttle bus to the cruise terminal. GREAT place to snorkel dive. Saw lots of turtles, sting Rays and sunken ships.

St. John's, Antigua

4 out of 5
Huge shopping area

Disembarkation

We did the "Walk off" with our luggage. It was very fast and smooth once we got off the ship but it took a VERY long time for the ship to clear Customs.
