Crown Princess

12 Night British Isles With Dublin (Southampton Roundtrip)

Sail date: August 17, 2019

Ship: Crown Princess

Cabin type: Balcony

Traveled as: Large Group

Review summary

This is a great way to see a large volume of the British Isles and N.France is a "short" amount of time. As a cruise, the ship was adequate and the entertainment ok. The destinations were really the centerpiece of the trip and not the vessel. I'm a bit jaded for cruise ships as I've traveled on Royal Caribbean Oasis Class ships a couple of times where the vessel is at least half of the attraction of sailing with the entertainment, amenities, and variety of enclaves taking center stage.

There was plenty of storage overall in the closet and elsewere. The large bed had a permanent depression on the right side, but because of its size this was not a problem. The bath was efficiently sized and more than adequate. Medallion touch-less entry was great.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

This was just an egress/ingress port. We were not happy at all that our Passports were taken without any warning upon embarkation. I made this clear in my survey with Princess.

St. Peter Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands

Kinda of a hit and run stop.

Cobh (Cork), Ireland

The Jameson Distillery visit was revelation with lots of historical buildings and interesting production information.

Dublin, Ireland

Party town! The trip to Ballykocken (sp?) was fun and enabled some quite pastoral time.

Belfast, Northern Ireland

Travel to Giants Causeway is a must do activity.

Greenock (Glasgow), Scotland

5 out of 5
Self guided walk around Greenock was interesting and relaxing. Five hours r/t bus travel to Edinburgh for the Tattoo was the highlight of the trip. Princess even had the general dining room open upon our return at 1:30am! Otherwise our 4pm departure would have meant no formal meals most of the second half of day. Kudos to Princess for that.

Invergordon (Inverness & Loch Ness), Scotland

5 out of 5
Urquhart Castle/Loch Ness and the trip there was an eye buffet and memorable.

South Queensferry (Edinburgh), Scotland

Party town #2! Could have spent a lot more time in Edinburgh!!

Le Havre (Paris), France

Seeing the countryside on the way to Busnel Distillery was great. Honfleur is a place everyone should see!
