Review summary

We highly recommend this cruise to anyone. It was really enjoyable and the weather was warm but not too warm.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We arrived fairly early and had no wait to check in. We waited just a short time in the waiting area before walking on board.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate three times in the main dining room (anytime dining), two times in the Crown Grille and two times in Sabatini's. All were good except for one of the nights in the Crown Grille.

Crown Grill

2 out of 5

We had a early reservation (5:30 p.m.) and were seated at a table one row away from the windows. As the sun set it started glaring in my face. It was so bad I couldn't see what I was eating. I asked what I thought was a head waiter to close the curtains. He closed them a little bit but the party seated at the window did not want them closed. I left the dining room crying. My husband said both our server and the manager came to the table and made it sound like it was my fault because I did not say something. Not a great night and the steak our server recommended was nothing but fat! UGH!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was always a wide variety of activities listed in the Patter. I prefer to read whether it be by the pool during the day or in the room at night. I did go to the Captain's Reception and the Voice. Both were fun!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
My husband went to several of the shows and enjoyed them all. I don't enjoy the kind of shows they have on cruise ships (unless it is Mama Mia!) and prefer to read in our room.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward, Antolin, was fantastic. The waiters, assistant waiters and bartenders were all great. Is it me or does is seem that the waiters and assistant waiters and fewer and working harder every cruise?

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was our second on the Crown Princess. It is a lovely ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was the size of a normal balcony room but the balcony seemed to be larger than I remember. Our room was kept very clean by our wonderful room steward. My only complaint is that this room is in the back of the ship and there was quite a bit of vibration. Something we had not experienced before on other cruises. But we booked late and we happy to get a room!

Ship tip

Explore! There are so many things that you won't ever see unless you get out there!!

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
Love this port. It is so close to the airport and affordable hotels for a pre-cruise stay.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
This was our fist visit to St. Kitts. We took a round island train ride. The island is poor and you could see this by the houses that the inhabitants were living in.

St. John's, Antigua

5 out of 5
This was our first visit to Antigua. We took an excursion to the other side of the island to see where the British had reinforced the island to protect the sugar trade (Shirley Heights and Dow's Hill). Then we were driven down to Nelson's Dockyard. The guide was great! She had a lot to tell us about the island. This was a very pleasant excursion.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
This was our third visit to St. Thomas. All the other times we have gone snorkeling. This time we took an excursion to the other (Atlantic) side of the island including a stop at Mountain Top. Beautiful views. You could still see damage from last year's hurricanes. The excursion ended at Paradise Point with an gondola ride down to the town area.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
We had a late arrival at Grand Turk. There is a public beach available right at the end of the walkway off the ship. And it was beautiful but totally crowded because a Carnival ship had arrived before us. My husband and I did a little shopping and then had a margarita at Margaritaville which was really crowded.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
We were in the Walk Off Group #4. Our time to leave the ship was 7:40 a.m. We did not leave until almost 8:30 a.m. US Customs decided to assign only two agent to this cruise of 3,000 people!
