Overall, what we enjoyed the most from our Princess Cruise was the Sanctuary, despite the fact that the pool was closed. Although, it could have been better. While we were a little disappointed on the entertainment level, we would recommend the Crown Princess. However, before we cruise with the Crown Princess, we will make sure that some of the things have been improved.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
The transportation from the airport to the port and the embarkation process was quick, efficient and organized. Just the way we like it.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The general dinning area food was plentiful and they served a variety of delicious selections of fish, meat, pasta and exquisite desserts. Once we found our seats, waiters would immediately request for our choice of beverage, and we never had to wait long for our drinks. If one side of the dinning area was closed, there was always another opened on the other side. Food was plentiful and good. We choose Anytime Dinning.
Crown Grill
3 out of 5
We dinned twice at the Crown Grill specialty restaurant, which has an up-charge of $29.99 per person. While I do not particularly believe it was worth the up-charge, my husband insisted on going for their lobsters. The service was good, but I thought it lacked the personalized service that you normally receive when dinning at exclusive restaurants. The service was anxious and rushed. For the up-charge, I expect personalized service with mouth watering meals. We did not believe that there was a difference in the quality of food and service between the Crown Grill and any of the other restaurants.
International Café
5 out of 5
Our favorite spot to eat was the International Cafe. Prior to boarding, we purchased a Coffee Specialty card that allowed us to have specialty coffees. The coffee was excellent and the food was dietetic in nature and delicious. We began and ended our days at the International Cafe.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
One of our great disappointments was that the Sanctuary Pool was opened only ONCE during our entire vacation. This is really unacceptable, since we paid a $40 a day per person to be at the Sanctuary.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Entertainment at the Crown Princess was mediocre. We enjoyed the comedy shows and dancing on the decks and other areas of the ship. However, the majority of their shows were in rooms that did not have sufficient room for all to sit. The cruise director should have organized these popular venues in the theater, where everyone could comfortably enjoy them. If the show was popular, people would gather an hour prior to show to save seats. I believe this is ridiculous. After all, its a vacation.
Club Fusion
1 out of 5
The all night long party at Club Fusion and the Skywalkers Nightclub was depressing. DJ Layla would be looking for song selection on a laptop without any interactions with the guest. A DJ is supposed to get people out on the dance floor. She looked depressed and choose songs that left the dance floor mostly empty. We love to dance and this was a GREAT disappointment.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
The service is good, but not parallel to Celebrity Cruise. Maybe the cruise personnel were tired and too long on the ship, but they were not as friendly as I have experienced in other cruise lines. Quite a few times, I saw them roll their eyes at passengers. The dinning service was good, but again always felt rushed. You can see the waiters running from one table to the next, trying to be nice, but really not listening.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
While the ship does need a little updating and renovation, this did not affect our cruise. The ship is pretty.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Our cabin was always clean. Our cabin steward was efficient, friendly, and informative. Therefore, he was rewarded with additional an additional tip.
Ship tip
While we did enjoy our Crown Princess cruise, there were things that could have made it really memorable. The pool at the Sanctuary should have always been open! There is no excuse... Most especially when passengers are paying an extra $40 a day to enjoy it.
While Antigua is a beautiful island, the port leaves a lot to be desired. We did book a kayak and snorkeling tour with the ship and that was enjoyable. That part of the Antigua is beautiful
We have stayed at St. Kitts Marriott. We booked an independent ATV tour with 856tours.com and it was AMAZING! We loved it!!! However, the port was a fiasco with all the vendors attacking us monkeys and asking us to pay $25 for a picture with them. I truly felt sorry for the monkeys. Besides, these poor animals can be sick and we can be diseased by them. I don't think I'll ever want to go to this port again.
Grand Turk is absolutely beautiful, but the beach was way too crowded. The locals were trying to rip the tourist off by selling beach chairs at a premium, when you can get them for free. In addition, they had horses on the beach that were defecating on the beach and in the water. Who wants to see that?!
