Review summary

Disappointed not being able to visit Newport. Skipping Port seems to be common occurrences. On Golden in 2015, skipper Falkland Island and Amalia Glacier. On Emerald in 2017, skipped Port Chalmers and Akaroa. 2017 again on Crown, skipped Newport. Maybe good to have insurance policy for such unforeseen occurrences.

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
DaVinci has beautiful decoration. Food are great. Waiter is good. However, seemed slow in serving as though the ship is short handed

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Enjoy the ocean and river views at the Skywalker lounge and spend time in the casino after dinner.

Entertainment

Good

Children's Programs

No kid with us

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Mr Tito, our stateroom steward is very friendly and fast in tidying up our room. It’s an assets to Princess Cruise. Mr Georg, our waiter at DaVinci 416 is good and friendly. This one is despite being “shorthanded.” Both the above made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The pizza and grill are getting from bad to worse.....since Golden(2015), Diamond(2016), Emerald(2016) then Crown(2017).

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
No comment on the ship cleanliness or layout. Perhaps, Princess should consider having similar layout in RCL promenade areas. This give guests the opportunity to enjoy musical program together. It also create a much more lively ambiance during the cruise.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The stateroom is great. Our only complaint is the winching of Tender boats during the early hour. It certainly disturbs our sleep.

Ship tip

Have your dinner schedule fixed before you board the ship. Queueing can be frustrating.

Ports of call

New York, New York

3 out of 5
One can see that it is located in an isolated area. Giving us the impression that we are not given a reputable berth for guest to embark.

Newport, Rhode Island Did not visit port

The port is closed. Waited for almost 3 to 4 hours then the skipper opted to skip this port to proceed to Boston.

Boston, Massachusetts

Been here before. Nothing changes but definitely love the food in Quincy Market.

Bar Harbor, Maine

4 out of 5
Good place to stroll in this town. Enjoyed the 1.5lb lobster for lunch in one of the restaurant.

Saint John, New Brunswick

3 out of 5
Other than the rapid reversal tide, nothing more to talk about.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

3 out of 5
Only place worth visiting is the Citadel. Make sure to make it there before 12noon to witness the firing of the canon and changing of the Guards.

Sydney, Nova Scotia

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

Quebec City, Quebec

Beautiful city with many places to explore. Tea at the Chateau and walking tours is a must. Mongomery Falls is another must visit tourist spot.

Disembarkation

Insurance policy for skipping ports??? Usually, a port is skipped for SAFETY reasons.

Experienced having to skip Port once too frequently. 2015(Golden), skipped Falkland Island and Amalia Glacier. Due to bad weather. 2017(Emerald), skipped Port Chalmers and Akaroa due to bad weather. 2017(Criwn), skipped Newport due to Port incident the night before. Suggest to have insurance policy to insure guests for such unforseen circumstances.
