Review summary
20% plus of the folks on the cruise were staying for a second week, we said no way. It wasn't really because of the ship it was more of the false pretenses that are put on. Several years ago we boarded a princess cruise that had the wave pool near the front of the ship, it now costs $10pp per day to enjoy this. We made reservations at Sabatinis and the steak house both an additional $20 and $25 pp extra. The first night we made our way to a main dining room, although a major complaint getting to this room without going outside in the harsh wind was that you had to go down several decks, up one, walk down past rooms, go back up and then find the restaurant. Too much up and down. I had Toronados of steak that you could see through, the next night I chose the NY Steak, unbelievable amount of sodium in the sauce on the steak, where their chefs overseeing the tastes of this? I suppose people look at this and go "ooh and ahh" because these are the same folks who have to pay for dessert and appetizers at a restaurant. Sabettinis was a let down, adequate service, food was no better and maybe even less than the main dining room. We had noticed that there was never anyone in the steak house for the extra $25 pp, after Sabettinis we canceled the steak house. Aahhh but when the restaurants are open for the dinner, the small buffet at the back of the ship was open we discovered. Whats this, fried shrimp, shrimp cocktail, crab legs, beef wellington!. After the pool we grabed a plate of shrimp went back to the room, snacked changed and went back to the buffet. I asked, and got a 3" thick piece of Wellington, shrimp, sides, man this was better than the main dining! Even the day we left the ship we ate at the main dining area, couldn't bite the muffins they were so hard, coffee non existant, get off the ship please! Years ago the "foreigners" working the ship, you know, the Romanians, Slavs, were more attentive, this time it felt like we were bothering them. Superbowl under the stars was ok, no fanfair at all for the game, cold hotdogs that I took 2 bites out of fearing sickness and when explaining this to the young foreign attendant that the food was cold, she had no clue!!!! On NCL last year in Hawaii for superbowl, they did it up big with Horsd'oeurves, necklaces and much more. Movies under the stars was great except for having to sit in deck chairs that are like rocks. Being in the catering business the customer and quality of the food comes first, these folks just get buy with the staff. The only English speaking folks were the pursers and some officers who you only saw at the beginning and end of the voyage.Ports of call
