Review summary

Being our first cruise, I have no point of reference or comparison. However, our expectations were exceeded with the quality of the service, amenities, accommodations and food!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Quality and variety of food was outstanding. The ambiance was spectacular. The service top rated. Italian wines were a huge plus.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
There is always something to do on the Pacifica! The daily newsletter gave details on locations and times for everything - kept it with us so we wouldn't miss anything!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was certainly outstanding. And although this is an Italian line, every staff member we encountered also spoke English, which was very well appreciated.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was sparkling clean at all times. Certainly molto bella!!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin steward always kept our room in top shape.

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

3 out of 5
Barcelona tour tried to fit in too many places to visit, so we did not have enough free time to explore on our own. Too much time spent at Holy Family Cathedral, as it was not yet open.
Don't Miss: Flamenco dance show was spectacular!

Catania, Sicily

3 out of 5
Our guided tour was cancelled due to low participation so we were on our own. This city was very dirty and in sore need of restoration. We found no one speaking English at all.
Don't Miss: The open markets were fabulous - old Italy still alive today.

Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands

5 out of 5
This beautiful little island is very clean and hospitable, even to Americans. Tourism is their number one priority, and there is plenty to see. We loved the round castle, pearl factory, bullfighting ring, cathedral.
Don't Miss: Exquisite cathedral in the center of Palma

Valletta, Malta

5 out of 5
This was our favorite port, favorite guided tour. Interesting history. Particularly loved the "co-cathedrals."
Don't Miss: Walled city of Mdina was spectacular - very quaint, horse drawn carriages looked lovely

Savona (Genoa), Italy

5 out of 5
We toured the Principality of Monaco! Playground of the extremely rich. A great opportunity to see how the very wealthy live and play. Saw the Prince's Palace, the Grand Prix track, the world famous Monte Carlo Casino, etc.
Don't Miss: Views of the Monaco harbor are gorgeous, just like a postcard!

Tunis, Tunisia

1 out of 5
This very hot, dusty, dirty location was a bit threatening. Skip the "souks" or markets, as the salesmen badger and follow you throughout the rest of the shops, pressuring you to buy a rug.
Don't Miss: The ancient city of Carthage was the only redeeming part - but skip the souvenir shops at the end.

Pros: The Costa Pacifica is a beautiful, new ship. Our cabin was spacious, the veranda was awesome! Service impeccable.

Cons: This line is Italian, and seemed to cater to Europeans.

Recommends Costa Pacifica? Yes!
