Costa Magica

7 Night Western Mediterranean (Rome Roundtrip)

Sail date: November 19, 2018

Ship: Costa Magica

Traveled as: Family (young children)

Reviewed: 2 years ago

Review summary

Not bad, but not worth the money. Extra charges sneak up on you. Drink package felt limited, mixed drinks were never made the same. Only one beer available. Anything but plain coffee was extra. Food selections for lunch and dinner were lacking severely. Older ship, hit and miss on staff friendliness. Will not be cruising with Costa again. Spend your money on a nicer cruise line.

Food and Dining

Dinner was good, new specials each night. Breakfast and lunch left a lot to be desired.

Onboard Activities

Not much as far as activities go, daughter had a blast with the children’s activities.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our waiter and room attendant were amazing! Customer service desk, not so much. One of those companies that is amazing until you have an issue.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Older ship, decently clean, would have been so much better if the pools were heated. Hot tubs were only lukewarm.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Exceptionally average.

Ship tip

Not worth the cost. Spend the extra to book a nicer cruise line.

Marseille (Provence), France

Explored on our own, just not enough time to see much. Short time in port.

Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands

Booked the monastery excursion and was disappointed. Everything looked modern and more like a tourist trap than an actual monastery.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

Took a bus to Rome. Rome was amazing, but we did not have a lot of time to explore. Only in port for around 6 hours.
